Ughh ive looked at homedepot, lowes, my local hardware store, an ace hardware in DC and i havent found any brass tubing. Ive been looking in the isles with the pvc and copper am i looking in the wrong secton or is virginia just stupid and no place sells it. Thanks

My Ace stores carry it in an upright plywood display that's only about 2' wide so it's easy to miss. They frequently put it on a back counter somewhere. Definitely not near where they sell PVC though - this type of brass isn't a plumbing supply.

Take a dart with you and buy the brass that fits it. K&S brass is sold in 1/32" increments so it will fit anything pretty well if you get the right size.

Yes, micro stefans fit 9/16" and 17/32" brass.

ive found such K&S brass displays in local hobby shops and local hardware stores.

Yes...I eventually found my brass at a train store...again not exactly prominetly displayed so look around.

Well that's because Home Depot doesn't stock it.

K&S is superior, open the yellow pages and start calling any place that caters to the functional model builder.

I worked at an Ace Hardware here in Kansas for two years, and we didn't stock it. The only kind of brass tubing we carried was the standard 1/2", 3/4" and 1" sizes for plumbing. Oh, and the soft, bendable brass tubing that came in rolls (again, plumbing). But nothing that came in increments that precise.

The stuff you're talking about is copper. It's used for plumbing and is carried in the appropriate section for moving water about.

Brass is used almost entirely by model builders who are fabricating functional parts for model airplanes, trains, howitzers, steam engines, and the like.

Obviously it's a small market.

I can buy out the stock of 9/16" brass (3 1' pieces per store) at my 4 local Ace locations, and a month later only one of them will have realized that they need to restock the stuff.

There's a model train store near me that will order as much as I want, but it costs $.20/foot more than Ace.

Yeah, it's me, from NO. I took a long break from nerf for a while to do things like finish high school, get a job, get a girlfriend, hang out with friends, etc etc. My younger brother got into nerfing again though, and started using my old parts and shop to do his modding. So I looked in the history and found that this is the new active nerfing forum, so here I am.

And you're right on that being copper, not brass. I wasn't thinking when I wrote that.

If model and hobby stuff is the main use for that type of tubing, that'd explain why my Ace didn't carry it. The owner and my old manager was pretty stringent on only carrying things that could be used in common home repair and construction. Some stuff we carried for people working on small projects, but something like that would be too much of a niche market. I'll have to check a hobby store to see if I can find brass.

If you can't find it where you are, you can always order online. Google for ["K&S" brass tubing] and you'll find a slew of sites like this one that are happy to ship it to you for around $2.20/foot.

Depending on the exact size of your micro stefans you'll probably find the 9/16" (OD) a good place to start.

Hey CXWQ is that "Plastic Stock Tubing" or whatever from that sight happen to be PETG? Ooo anybody try alumanum (sp?) for barrels.

Aluminum should be identical to brass in performance. Most stores don't stock the K&S Al tubing in appropriate sizes for nerf so I haven't bothered with it.

I doubt the plastic on the site is PETG though I haven't checked into it so I don't know for sure.

I don't mean to hi-jack this thread, but since people are asking where to buy tubing, I guess I'll ask. Where can I get vinyl tubing? I'd rather buy it offline, since my mom has this thing with online ordering. Thanks...

There's usually a fairly good supply in hardware stores. It'll be on reels by the PVC and copper pipe.
