Typically about 1.5"

To expand on this many guys (myself included) use 2" darts in clips to avoid modifying the clip. The length you choose should depend on testing with your particular blaster to find what weight/length combination best suits you.

I've done some extensive testing with grey Menards faom as well as Hot Rod XL in a few of my blasters with various weight/tip combos. If desired I can scan and post my results.

That said I use 1.5" darts weighted with a single BB and padded with felt primarily. They give me the best/most consistent ranges out of my muzzle-loaders (Jolt, Maverick, etc.).

What I prefer in blasters with clips is, like SolarFusion, darts just long enough that I won't have to modify clips, around 2 inches, plus the felt tip. For a blaster where loading is kind of cramped, like a singled longshot, I would recommend darts a bit longer than 1.25 inches. They are easy to load, and not too unstable. For the most part, I make 1.75 inch darts. They don't work in clip blasters unless you modify your clips, but I mainly just use speedloaders anyways, so it is not an issue.

I personally use 1 inchers, just because they fly better in my blasters.

This violates statistical data. And physics.

Optimal dart length is mostly a function of preference and barrel length/material. Generally, longer darts fly more accurately, while shorter darts fly farther. Most people use darts of 1.25" or 1.5" as a balance point.

No, optimal dart length is a function of dart mass, head shape, and cross-sectional area. This has been proven mathematically by Doom, using data collected by Dan Beaver and Koree. http://btrettel.nerf...com/archives/78
