As i go for a second shot, as I pump, i hear a small wistling (sorry, sp) noise.
I take a good look down the barrel and find that the plug looks like it has slipped.
So, i go inside, swearing, and take it apart, take off the brass.
I find what I thought was true, it had slipped, but also the valve won't release.
It won't pull as far back as normal.
I'm looking for HELP, please.
If i have to I will open up the valve, but i REALLY hope there's another way. Please say there's another way.
And if i have to open my valve, i'd like instructions on how to do it most safely. Pics if possible.
Hoping i don't have to open it.

Cutting tools, i think i might use the dremel cutting tool, it's really nice.
And if i do open it up, would it be worth it to expand the tank as well?
reply by sunday or i'll read and respondwhen i get back. (prolly next sunday or monday.)
thanks

here
Great site, should really get more hits though. *nudge nudge*
You could probably figure out how to do it yourself though, it's really simple.

I spent a good 30 minutes reworking and enhancing these pictures, and labeling them. I hope they help you.
NOTES:You will notice I don't have a hose attached to mine because it broke off. I haven't lost hope for this stray SM5k valve, I may bring it back to life with some store-bought pieces. Don't worry, I have two SM5ks, this is the busted one.
Pictures are colour coded and labeled:

The tank.

The side.

The front.

The spring.

Crappy halved picture.
I hope this helps you Jlego. I may be able to take some more pictures, but I don't know. I think I did a pretty good 30 minute job for you, so go ahead and try to open up your tank. Ompa, do yuo think you could add anything, or did I get everything?

I'm glad you were able to get them up, this gives me a good idea of what I'm facing.
I'm leaving again to go look at colleges, but as soon as i get back and have time, i'll make a nice writup of the problem i had, and such, with pics.
Also, the bent firing pin won't be a problem, right? It was modded when it broke. (and ironically i might add, a day-old paint job.
Well, looking forward to rezing (lol) my favorite gun, so i can finish testing my 8" silencer with .25' drilled holes
Post in a week or so,

Shouldn't have to worry about... what? You shouldnt' have to worry about it if you aren't doing an expansion. Good luck man.
~ompa
Anyways, if your pin is bent, as in you did a tank relocation, then you cannot do a tank expansion because you need extra length in the pin to make up for about an inch or so of length in the tank. You have to keep it stock size.
When opening, remember to cut AROUND and not straight through. I can't explain it better than saying that once you cut into the plastic, rotate it around to another place and cut inwards. That way, you don't cut through the tank and snap the release pin. You're screwed in that senario.
Good luck with this. Remember, buy enough Plumber's Goop to last a plumber several years, and you should be good for sealing the tank afterwards.

I'd like people to tell me how to seal it though; I don't see how plumber’s goop could hold under that much pressure.
Now I'm back Aug. 4th
Ok, I just cut open the valve. Everything looks great and the seal had come completely off the green end.
Of course I fixed that and took way too many pictures. Since it's not sealed yet, any picture close-up requests will be allowed, and posted. *Not for long though*
I'll get those up hopefully tonight.
I'd like to know how people recommend sealing the valve. I have plumber's goop and epoxy. Should I apply the goop directly to the outside where I cut, or the inside rim first?
I'll shut up now, though and get on those pics.
(Sorry in advance if I have to double post to get them up)

Some pics are links due to the fact that the forum wouldn't let me post all the pics in one post.
The anatomy of an sm5k valve
By Jlego
Before performing the first incision, address the valve.

Hello valve.
Next, take a deep breath as you cut into what is one of the most badassed guns ever.
Pretend there is a hundred dollar bill in the middle, rolled up, and if cut it will be worthless. NEVER cut farther than 35-40% though the valve. After each cut, rotate the valve up to 90 degrees and cut again. Repeat until the top section can be removed.
I put mine in my vice, sideways (not too tight, you could crack the valve)
After making the cut, spray out the insides with compressed air and fix what needs fixing. in my case I just had to re-mount the rubber seal head. (Which I probably could have done without opening it. Damn. Life sucks. Better respect my 2 cents)

Here is the real meat of this write-up... The pics!!!
The now open valve

Just kidding... if you have anything in here, your valve is weird. Figure it out or pm Xx_Black-Wrath_xX (only because he called himself the sm5k man.) or myself.

BTW, mad props to black-wraith, thanks man, at least I knew what to expect thanks to you.
Top view of the open valve without the rubber seal in place.

Three side views of the inside pin, one without the seal cap on, another without the spring.

My fixed seal cap, and the hole you fix onto the pin.

The last step, gluing is all that's left. I’m waiting a day or two for recommendations. It’s ready people.

Thanks to everyone for making relevant comments, and the help, please get back with gluing methods. I know plumber's goop is strong, but this strong?
And anyone wanting other photos – I thought I took too many, but anything someone wants that I didn't get, you have a day or two to get back to me, mmmmkay?
My two cents, and many pictures.

And epoxy will hold more than you might think (at least mine did)- I can pump my expanded one about 12 times and it still won't break any seals.

Seriously, PG will hold anything. It bonds well to plastic, and it stretches a wee bit to accomidate pressures. It will hold your tank, trust me. Epoxy will hold well too. If you can afford fibre glass to cover the outside, you're golden. I personally don't have that kind of money to spend, or that kind of loyalty to my blasters.
Do what you will, and good job on taking initiative and snapping some nice CLEAR clean pictures for us.
I really do think that in the future, is Cx agrees, we could have a nice internal pictures page for various springers and pump guns.

And, ompa; no matter how hard they try, I don't know if they can ever replace that feeling from when I first walked to the park and lost my dart in the woods from 100' away. That was something else. I don't think the titan will come close.
Doesn't mean I won't use it to it's fullest
Oh, and just a preview, I’ll post pics and ranges (as a success story) when I’m done, but this is the color scheme:
Green on black with this texture the camera can't capture.

If I ever make it to a war people there can see it. Unfortunately I live in Connecticut and I may go to college as far north as Massachusetts, so getting to wars is very difficult. So I'm going to do my best to make it to one, and if not, maybe host one myself, we've got a nasty park.
-Jlego
edit:
you also gotta dig the matching nasty brassed sm1.5k old edition:

also, this is my spring fav, with stefan ammo holder (it's flat black):

I love my collection
