Hey guys. Ive been in a creative slump the past few months. Ive been trying to do something homemade nerf related, but I cant get off the ground. Its actually a little depressing..

Modification wise, I do okay, but thats all stuff thats been done before. I want to create! Not replicate... and so Id like to ask those who come up with new homemades...how do you do it? Is there a process? Am I missing something? Help?

You have to look at problems that current designs have and imagine something that would solve that. Or think of a specific purpose and imagine the ways it could be filled. I'm working out plans for a semi-auto airgun and a dual plunger tube bow-gauntlet.

Don't try to think of a design, try to think of something that you WANT a toy gun to do, but can't get because no one makes it. Then, design a blaster that does that.

If you have yet to make a homemade blaster, try making a snap or rainbow or something. Take note of where you went, "Wow that took a lot of time to fabricate," or, "Gee, that looks kind of flimsy." You know, things like that.

Pretty much make sure you possess the propensity to construct a homemade before trying to revolutionize the game. Not to put down your mechanical abilities, which I have no knowledge of, but I can tell you that my first rainbow was kinda pretty supa crappy compared to the ones I make now and I was modding for maybe three years prior to that. Try it out and see what you think before you go blowing cash on supplies and tools.

Always use that search function. And check out the Noob's First Homemade thread to get you started.

Good luck, bro.

I like to look at my favorite blasters and find a way to improve it. Example: Rapidstrike. It's nice, but rather large. Cut it down, replace it with a new barrel or comfortable stock. I like to look at others' ideas and mash them with my own.

Or, as the southeast tends to do it, make tons of integrations.
