A sniper is a highly trained marksman who operates alone, in a pair, or with a sniper team to maintain close visual contact with the enemy and engage targets from concealed positions or distances exceeding the detection capabilities of enemy personnel.

A loser is a nerfer who operates alone and hides in the woods during a nerf war, in the hopes that someone will wander into the 65' effective range of their brightly colored toy gun without detecting the loser's presence.

In nerf, there is no such thing as snipers, only nerfers. The word filter that automatically converts Sniper to Loser helps new nerfers learn that lesson right off the bat, without anyone having to explain it to them.

Epic, Dank = Effeminate, Suboptimal - Way overused slang from 07-09ish.

Sigged - Useless one-word reply to let someone know you added something funny they said to your signature.

PM'ed - Useless one-word reply to let someone know that you sent them a private message.

Frown Upon / Frowned Upon - Phrases commonly used by people who are back-seat moderating, who want to sound smugly superior. May also be used by someone warning a new member about a policy they don't necessarily agree with so they can clean up their act before us mean old admins can get to them. Either way, it's used almost exclusively by people who are misrepresenting the moderators/admins/policies of NH.

These are the world filters, which are supposed to be a fun way for us to poke fun at the people who take themselves way too seriously around here. They are triggered automatically by the forum software. Don't take them personally.

To be fair though, in ye olden days of harshness with the old regime, new members would have to be quickly warned by other members, because for a good while there was pretty close to a 1 strike policy. I distinctly reclaim warning several people myself, usually about posting without a picture in the pictures thread, although it was pretty much 50/50 whether they'd see my message before the mods saw their post.

Granted, I'd almost always do this via PM, rather than a post, so the filter thing was irrelevant.

If you think someone is doing something against the rules, use the report feature. The person in question will get anything from a written warning to a couple of days of posting restrictions, to a lifetime ban depending on what they did wrong and how often. If I need to explain why you shouldn't reply to the thread or send the user a PM, you've completely missed the point of what I said in my previous message.

I prefer that people call them 'blasters' instead of 'guns' because of the negative connotation, but I'm not going to filter every use of the word 'gun'.
