No. It keeps the front section of the BBB rotating.

Don't do it, it's a guide rail. It makes sure the sliding components stay aligned.
This is a very good guide to mods one can do to a 3B, by Beaver.

Yes I have removed mine but you will need to be vey careful not to over draw. It is not worth it though. If I were you don't do it.

thanks for all the input, i ended up not cutting it off

i am doing a very minimized BBB and i also made a very interesting plunger head, maby ill post pictures
