So I was going to build a rainbow, but then realized, skirt seals are REALLY pricey. More than 5 bucks is a lot for a seal, even if it is perfect. So like any engineer, when their is a problem, first you research. I sifted through Mcmaster, looking for anything made of rubber, neoprene, etc. I finally decided to try this grommet since it looked like the right shape.

I'm not going to show a picture since Mcmaster has 3-D images.

Currently I'm using one in my SnapBow MkV, In place of the two rubber washers, everything else still in place. So far, it seals wonderfully, and I am getting the same to better ranges than before. Since two rubber washers costs like $1.80, and this grommet costs ($.58). 58 cents!! I am already saving a few dollars. I don't think these will ever replace skirt seals, but they're worth a try in my opinion.

Beware: if you buy this alone from Mcmaster like I did, you will pay $6 shipping! <_<

Or hell, Spiderbite has sweet deals on this stuff now, so there's really no reason not to Rainbow.

I've started using mostly u-cup seals. They seem to seal just as well as skirt seals, but they are a little bit harder to work with. 9691K56 is the part number and you get 5 of them for less than 1 skirt seal.
