Hey guys,

as the Vulcan uses 6 D-Batteries, which is kinda heavy, i tried to replace them with some RC Batteries.

Old Batteries: 7,2 V , 3000mAh

New Batteries: 9,6V, 1100mAh

The higher voltage is on purpose , which should result in an higher RoF, the difference in Ampere wasnt intended. The problem is now, that the Vulcan isnt firing at ALL! I could understand hihger or lower RoF or Ranges, but its not even moving.

Could the differnce in Ampere be the cause of that ?

Did you rewire it at at all? Stock wiring sucks- you probably tripped a thermistor. They shut down the gun if too much voltage goes through it. Or, there was a bad connection from factory like my RS had. Open it up, test each component to make sure flow gets through, and apply power directly to the motor leads to see if the motor died.

I made no internal changes. I am kinda new to modding and "destroyed" my longshot barrel gun recently, because i am simple to dumb to get it back together correctly -.-
Which is the reason why i dont want to open the vulcan. I have seen several mods with 12-15V, thats why i was pretty sure that it would work, but maybe they removed the thermistor :/

Just tested if the stock batteries are still working, but they dont -.-

Which means, i now HAVE to open that damn thing.... or do i have other options ? And how bad would it be if i accidently have used the wrong polarity?

Note: I wont be able to answer till tomorrow , due to forum restrictions.
Note2: David Tennant :)

I followed this guide to replace the batterie (and for polarity):

Update: Tried again the stock, and it worked ! Inserted the new one and it worked for one belt. Loaded the new batterie until now, tried it out and nothing happend -.- ARGH

Opening the whole thing seems to be impossibel as welll as i am to stupid to undo the screws ( i am near a mental breakdown, cause i fell so retarded -.-)

If you reversed the polarity you very well could have screwed the entire thing over. Did you at least try to get the polarity correct, or just wire randomly? I only ask because you know what it is and at least somewhat understand it.

Okay the Vulcan is a goner. Already ordered a new one.

But i have two questions :

1. Should i try the mod on the new? I am a little worried after my first experience.

2. What can i harvest from the old one ?

I'd say go for the mod again. I've scrapped many blasters due to getting frustrated and impatient and screwing it up. It all helps you learn for next time. I'd suggest soldering to the stock battery tray so its removable and nothing will be messed with inside the vulcan so it'll at least be somewhat less likely to break, but if it does, none of the physical parts will be harmed. In the battery tray there should be pictures molded into the plastic to tell you which way to orient the batteries correctly. There will be a positive (plus sign) and negative (minus sign) symbol showing you which terminals are which. Just solder the connections to the corresponding metal plates and there shouldn't be any issues.

The vulcan seems a bit expensiv, to just screw them over and over again. But i gonna try the mod a second time. Sadly there may be + / - indicators in the tray, but not on the battery !

Got myself the Lanard Triple shot, on which i will try to learn how to replace the spring and remove AR, because the Range ist just BAD. This shotgun is just 8€ ~ 10$ so if it breaks its not a big deal.

On a side note: Does anybody know how more or less Ampere(A) effect a gun ?

Edit: Goosh if i read my own text i sound like a child... Sry for that, my english isnt that great.

Amps are how much energy can be drawn from the batteries- volts are ow hard the. Volts are force-fed- 7.2 volts means your motors arew getting 7.2 volts. Amps are only take as you need- your motors will draw as many amps as they need, up to the discharge rate of the battery. 2200 mAh means you can run a 2200 mA motor for one hour, or a 100 mAh motor for 22 hours, etc.

So another day, another try.

This time i didnt break it ! Yeah Success :P

The Blaster works with an increased RoF, but not all the time. He just works if he is in the right mood. Dont know why it works sometimes and sometimes not. With the default batteries it works all the time.

Seems a bit odd.

Maybe its because i used super glue to attach the cabels ?

Yes. Electrical connections completed with glue don't work well; they result in the kind of problems you're having.
Get a soldering iron, and re-do all the connections you made with the glue. Before you do that though, make sure you take off as much glue as possible; melted cyanoacrylate is BAD STUFF.

I suggest to fit one of these, work awesomely on Vulcans, shoot way faster and last longer. I've been using one for almost 4 months without recharging it (almost 30 hours of real time use)

Fits very well on the battery tray, you'll only have to remove some plastic with a cutter and plug it with croc clips to the tray terminals.
