Allright...for anyone who lives in the Greater Seattle area...where do you find your brass for modding! I've checked everywhere...and I can't find any.

Do you have a Lowe's neer you? They should have it. Also try any kind of plumbing or hardware stores.

NO NO. Brass is not used for plumbing anymore. It's too expensive for plumbing. I looked all over hardware stores for brass and didn't find any.

The only place to find brass is in local hobby shops. Look in your Yellow Pages for hobby shops in your area. They should all carry them. Make sure the listing in the Yellow Pages advertises model railroads, because that is what brass is for now.

Ooooo no! Vintage, my ACE hardware stores sells 36inch pieces of brass! Ooooo... My Home Depot sells steelworks, so I don't buy that.

Most of the hardware stores I go to (Home Depot, Menards, etc.) usually keep their brass tubing in the metalwork section, in the same area of sheet metal.

I found a somewhat odd solution to the problem: I don't use brass. My NFs and AT3K are all coppered, and my first mod (to an old, broken Bow & Arrow) was with PVC.

There's a neat little store up in Bellevue that sells clear plastic pipe. I've not been up there yet, but from what their website shows, they've got a pretty good selection. The place is TAP Plastics. They're on 124th Ave., just south of 520.

Really!?!?!? Wow, It would be awesome if I could get my brass at Home Depot, because it is much closer than my hobby shop. I asked around in the plumbing department, and they said they no longer stocked it due to its price. Maybe they still do have it, just not in plumbing.

Does brass really add that much range to your gun? PLastic is self-lubricating, but many people claim brass is the way to go.

Brass is the way to go merely because you can get the size that fits your stefans perfectly. Also, you can make brass barrels that are longer than the stock plastic ones and put them on stonger guns for more accuracy and power. Also, brass lets you change a gun that shoots mega darts into one that shoots minis.

If stock plastic barrels were made tighter, longer, and without holes in their sides, then they might be better than brass barrels. However, most stock Nerf barrels are not perfectly round, not tight enough, and have silly air restrictors to limit velocity and range.

with a PVC barrel don't you need a crayola or brass insert to use with micro stefans?

I don't know of a PVC size that fits 1/2" FBR correctly.

Sch. 80 1/2" PVC fits some people's micro stefans.

Viper: I use CPVC mainly since it fits my darts.
Vintage: Viper wasn't talking about using stock barrels.
