I don't understand why people make stefans shorter than elite stock darts. How can a generic nerf gun like retaliator or strongarm shoot Stefan's?

Thanks

The stefans are created to go much farther than stock darts. With that being said, they can't fit a normal barrel due to their design. You'd have to modify your retaliator/strongarm as well as your clips (if applicable) to accept these. This usually means removing dart posts and putting steel rods in your mags.

This also can be changed by making longer stephans... However you'll have less of them for the same worth of material if you made a batch of short ones. The only problem you'd have then for your longer home made darts are the air restrictors in your blaster.

Steel or foam, it makes no differance. We settle this like nerds...

Here's a good guide to making stefans work in the CS blasters pretty easily: http://modworks.blog...t-clip-mod.html You will still have to remove the air restrictors in your blasters before you can use stefans in them though.

Most people don't use the N-Strike magazine system, but prefer linear mags, like RSCBs and wyes. Having shorter darts allows the user to put more darts in a linear arrangement. Neither of these systems rely on moving parts, so they are much more reliable. They do suffer from slower reloads and range drop as your rounds are fired.

You got it. That, plus better economics (shorter darts require less foam) means that short darts have more desirable characteristics. There aren't any downsides for those of us who don't use stock blasters.

Shorter darts also have less drag and better aerodynamics. That translates quickly to more range and accuracy.

To add on to what Shmmee said, stefans are shorter for a reason. First of all foam is relatively smooth, which doesn't disturb the air as much as a consistently uneven surface, creating a larger low pressure zone behind the dart. So, to lessen the affect of the drag, stefans are shorter and have less friction in the air.
