Cheap hoses can be stiff, but most are quite flexible.While a Dremel is hardwired, a compressor tube would seem to me to be more difficult to maneuver, especially under pressure, but I've never used one!

I don't want to back seat moderate but i'm assuming most moderators wont see this being this old. You're not supposed to post in month old posts. If you hadn't quoted me I wouldn't even know about it. Just a tip.
It does blow some air out the front because that's were it vents. But not enough to blow away dust. As far as tethering its not bad. It is slightly more stiff than a power cord, but not unruly.
