I'm not entirely sure where this is supposed to go. There may be a better category for this, so please forgive me. I just purchased a kobalt pneumatic die-grinder at lowes. I know not everyone has an air compressor, but some/many will. I already did. It was much cheaper which is why I bought it instead of a dremel/rotary tool, and I am very impressed with it. It has an amazing amount of torque and cuts just as well as my dad's expensive as hell work dremel. And since its pneumatic there's no motor to burn out over time. I don't know if anyone else would like this option but so far I am deeming it a good investment.

Pneumatic tools are nice, they have more torque than a power tool which contains it's own electric motor. If you have access to a big damn air compressor, they're a good choice.

The dirty secret of Dremels and other similar rotary tools is that they're pretty shitty, built to be as cheap as possible. They're functional enough for our purposes, but are almost incomparable to serious rotary tools. Pneumatic tools are generally better quality than their price suggests (small electric motors are expensive).

I have an 11 gallon compressor but my uncle (who suggested it to me) only has a 2 gallon one that he bought when he got the tool. Even with something small like that it works wonders. I would highly suggest it if you have an air compressor. Also for about 5 more dollars they have a 4 position variable speed model that I didn't see at the store but is online.

My first thought would be the tethering. While a Dremel is hardwired, a compressor tube would seem to me to be more difficult to maneuver, especially under pressure, but I've never used one!

Does it by chance blow away dust as it works? That'd be nice. :)

I don't want to back seat moderate but i'm assuming most moderators wont see this being this old. You're not supposed to post in month old posts. If you hadn't quoted me I wouldn't even know about it. Just a tip.

It does blow some air out the front because that's were it vents. But not enough to blow away dust. As far as tethering its not bad. It is slightly more stiff than a power cord, but not unruly.

Cheap hoses can be stiff, but most are quite flexible.

Don't. If you think the post breaks rules, use the report button.

Sorry, I was interested and it didn't seem that far down the list. I'll stop posting, sorry again.
