Hi guys. I just got into homemades, and am looking to buy a cheap scroll or bandsaw. I am on a very tight budget. I do know generally you dont want to buy cheap power tools, but I wont use it very often, just to cut handles. If anyone has any suggestions, or one to sell please let me know. But i am on a very tight budget.
Thanks in advance

Try to find one on craigslist for cheap. If you get lucky you can find a good one. Otherwise buy one fro harbor freight. With a coupon and a sale, you could get one for around 50ish. However as I hear it, the harbor freight one isn't the best. A scroll saw isn't something you want to get a "cheap" version of.

I recommend checking craigslist for scroll-saws. If you're looking for a saw just to cut handles, you're bound to find something.

Edit; Hero beat me too it.

This is the scroll saw that I have is this one. It seems to be on sale right now, but I got it for around $120. It works very well for the price and I have used it to cut out +bows, rainbow catches, handles, and a bunch of other stuff. I did research before buying it and it looks like it is the best one for the price range.

If all you need to do is cut handles, you might consider just using a coping saw or a fretsaw. With a bit of practice they'll cut almost as well as a band saw, for those purposes at least.

Here's a coping saw, for your reference. $8 right now, might be able to get it cheaper with all the holiday sales going on. Pick up a couple of sturdy clamps too, you'll want to fix your workpiece to a table or something. Combined with a drill, one of those should be able to do almost anything a scrollsaw can; it'll just take longer (nowhere near as much noise though).

If you're only planning to do handles and outside-cuts, I'd recommend a bandsaw over a scrollsaw if you can afford one. They cut faster and better through thick materials.
