Does anyone even use megas still?

Recently my friend bought some 5/8" foam backer rod instead of 1/2" and instead of returning or using it for its intended purpose (filling cracks) he gave it to me. Ever since then I have stopped using micros with my airguns and have switched over to megas because I think they are superior to micros. The dilemma I'm in is I hardly have any micros left and I just prefer megas, but there's no clip material! If anyone knows what I could use as the clip section of an RSCB that would be great.

You haven't lived until you've rammed a 7/8" spade bit into a PVC coupler.

I'm assuming that you're using 1/2" PVC pipe fittings for the RSCB and 1/2" PVC for your barrel. These are the top 3 options I can think of:

1/2" Thinwall PVC (best option, fits in the same couplers as sch40 1/2" PVC)
3/4" CPVC (Very similar in ID to thinwall PVC, but requires creative coupling because the OD is slightly larger)
3/4" PVC (Leaves lots of deadspace, requires upsized RSCB or creative coupling)

I used megas when I first started nerfing. I used a 3/4 inch tee and pipe for dart storage. Then a 3/4 to 1/2 inch reducing bushing to attach the 1/2 inch conduit barrel (very slightly tighter barrel than pvc due to same OD but thicker walls). And your choice of 3/4 ball valve or end cap. Worked really well for me.

Megas are awesome. They're just so... tactile.

This is by far the best option, and is worth trying to track down - it will be less of a pain in the ass than trying to make an adapter which accepts 3/4" CPVC.

I see that you're in Ontario, so I'm not sure what sized fittings and pipes you have available.

Is the thinwall pvc you're referring to purple and is there a way to modify SH40 so that it has a larger ID (drilling, heating, etc.)?

Sometimes it's purple. You would need a very long spade bit to make a clip out of SH40.

I have a 5/8 spade bit (would that work? I make cpvc breeches out of SH40 drilled with this stuff and it fits nicely) and another spiral bit that is 5/8 in diameter. Could brass work?

A 5/8 spade bit wouldn't work because your foam is 5/8" so air resistance and static cling will make feeding pretty atrocious in your clip.

1/2" thinwall PVC isn't that hard to find if you live in a populated area (I have a Home Depot, Lowe's, Ace Hardware, and Menards all around me).

Edit:

I see you live in Canada. It might be harder to track down for you then.

If you're looking for 1/2" sch20, try a drainage-supply store. My local one carries it.
