allright...I've got myself a nite finder that I want to mod up. The only thing holding me back seems to be every barrel material I find; whether it be brass or pvc - my darts won't fit into the barrel correctly! they are either too small and would drop out easily, or they are too tight and I can't even shove the end of the dart in! maybe i'm psycho - but the 1/2" foam backer rod that I stuck in the tubes seemed to fit pretty much the same as the darts. Is there a problem with the darts? like do I need zero darts or something? or is it a problem with the barrel material? am I not finding the correct sizes? what about the PETG mod on this site? Where do I find that stuff!? sorry about so many questions. :P

Welcome to the forums, yay intelligent people, Cx, how does it feel to not need to ban some idiot?

1/2" FBR=9/16" brass, 1/2" cpvc, 1/2"pex, crayola, PETG, sch 80-micros stefans
5/8"=sch40-mega stefans

What you use for micro barrel material is what fits your FBR the best. My FBR fits CPVC like wonders, while very few others FBR fit CPVC better than there 9/16" brass.

Hopefully I'll see you around the forums.

If your micros are too tight, you can take like a lot of FBR the length of say 10 of your darts and strech it as you straiten. That way they are skinnier and fit better.

Take a segment of 1/2 pvc and dremel out some of the inside until it fits easily around the outside of the air restrictor's center hole. Epoxy it in place. Then take a crayola barrel or segment of 9/16 OD Brass and glue it inside. Tah dah. You'll have to do extensive modification to the case in order for the new barrel to fit. I cut off the "floating" segment above the flashlight and dremeled out the hole where the barrel would exit until the PVC fits.

Also, if you use a wendies straw and twist and push it in the back of your darts, then use needle nose pliars to pull the foam out. This will make your darts squish into the brass to fit a bit more also.

oh....hmmmm...another n00b question...what is the best way to procure a crayola barrel? I would assume it's as easy as sawing off both ends of the marker but you know, I've been wrong before.

Exactly. Be sure to empty out whatever holds the ink before you put it into the gun.

Personally I find it easier to remove the back with plyers take out the tip and the ink thing inside then use the barrel backwards because the hole in the front is so small it creates a small pressure barrier and will make the dart go a little extra.

im a real nerf noob so help me out here. Out of all the materials used as barells for the nite fire mod, which ones/one work the best, or does it really matter.

Whatever fits your stefans better. Also, the quality of stefans is a large factor. A shorter barrel is more suitable for the NF.

It only fits mega stefans or stock micros. CPVC is also very common, it will be at Home depot in plumbing. Looks like PVC, with a thinner OD-outer diameter and thinner ID-Inner diameter. Glad to help.

It's also a more tan color than PVC. I use it for all of my guns and definitely recommend it (on my NF with a micro Stefan, it gets 80 feet with a few bands). You can get about 10 feet for about 2.50 at Home Depot. Great deal.

hi! i have a slightly higher price option that works insanely well for me.

i use pve with a 1/2 inch inside diameter, but as you know, the darts are too tight.

i have an adjustable ream that goes from just under to just over 1/2 inch. i have it set to the perfect size for my darts. get one of these and you can set it once, then use an electric drill to make as many micro barrels as ya want with a great finish every time.

this is probably a $10-$20 item, so keep that in mind. i got mine at a garage sale in a bag of drill bits, so i'm not sure on the cost.
