I was just wondering what you guys were up to on the 4th of July (firework related). Being that I live in LA :P , it is hard for me to get the good ones. Although I have a substantial collection of rockets, missles, multishots, artillary shells, snaps, spinners, helicopters, fountains, and so on. You guys are lucky that most of you do not have to obtain your fireworks in...uh...unlawful ways. So, what are you people buying?

I still have to smuggle mine in, even though only a few cops really care. At my age, it's easier for me to get a few pounds of black powder than it is to get fireworks though, so even if I did want to go to Illinois or Ohio, finding someone to take me would be a whole other story. So fountains and blowtorches it is. Or go to a public fireworks display.

You're stuck on Catalina for the 4th or in general?

If the latter, I'd suggest the Catalina Express as a suitable escape route.

Fun place to scuba dive, shitty place to live.

No, I'm going there for camp for a week... Of corse, they decide to leave on my favorite holiday of the year... I'm taking the express over.

P.S. You scuba dive there? My dad owns a scuba boat that charters people over there... It's called the Magician.

Well, apparently we're not supposed to have fireworks here due to the drought, but Albertson's is selling a ton for real cheap, so, I'll do a little minor law breaking. :P
Of course, I guess the main problem is getting them passed my mom and dad... at the least I'll get a few boxes of those poppers, though.

Ha, poppers. Why not go airborn with a few of those big things that spin and make fire? I get my stuff from VA or WV.

I went to so cali thinking it would be hot and the beaches sunny and burning but when I got and stayed over there, I FROZE MY ASS OFF. WOW. Alas, I learned my lesson. Next time I will look at the weather before I go.

Back on topic, I live in ohio, illinois not too far away. Took a road trip and bought some fireworks. Bought this missile battery with 1000 missiles in it, set it off in a park, but we had to drive off because everybody was coming to see what the hell was going on. We walked back like innocent bystanders and cops were there. :P It was much louder than we thought!

oh, i forgot to say, coronado is fucking sweet.

Wow, cool stuff. I don't think I've been on that one.

I did some of my advanced certification at Casino Point. Wreck and deep dives if I recall correctly. I've split my local dive time between Catalina and Shaw's Cove in Laguna. That's a nice spot in the fall when the deep water comes in and pushes the sediment out to sea.

I've also taken two chartered boats to the seaward side of Catalina to explore the kelp and play with fishies.

How about the Sea Bass? My Dad just sold that to get the Magician. I'm getting certified this summer because my dad works with instructors and dive masters. Should only take four or five days!

Cool, my dad charters mainly to the isthmus(sp?) area over by Crane rock and Bird rock.

I hope the sky is really clear... then I should be able to see the main land firework shows, which would rock. Seeing hundreds of pyrotechnical displays all at once...

YOU THINK I WOULDN HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT???
The guy who used to sell me them got arrested along with all of the other sellers in the area. I'm really bummed and have to use a stash from last year. And xedice, i have one of those batteries too. They're kick ass. Although my favorites are my 12 inch stand-alone missles.

I have a few fireworks from new year's eve, and my friends family usually go up to Washington and buy some of the missle ones..

Has this ever happened to anyone else? You take one of those "Groundhog" ones, and just let it go like normal, but it hits like a rock JUST right and then is shot into the air, but still staying upright as it spins through the air.

I thought it was pretty cool.

Grinch, you verily SUCK.

I'll be sitting at the local paintball field with all the guys, doing stuff like this. I'm sure we'll have cans of Dew up in the air before the nights over...all it takes are some rockets, duct tape, and a few cubes of everyone's favorite soda, and some tinkering idiots.

If there is a large portion of Garner, North Carolina missing on the 5th, you'll know why.

EDIT: Oh, if you want some fun, rig up a quick PVC tube with an grill ignitor in the back...stick a bottle rocket in, and don't point it at people. That's how we did last year. :P

We have boxes full of fireworks. Your head, asplode.

We and my brother used to make fireworks. We rolled up our old pokemon cards, and covered the bottum with tape. Then we filled the thing with the black powder that comes from Estes rocket engines, and covered the top with tape. And of course, a fuse...

When you lit it up, it would go shooting across the ground in all sors of directions like a spastic mouse, then it would light on fire, and burn to a crisp.

Yeah, well, it was Hella' coo', I guess ya had to be there.

The reason we didnt make it into a bottle rocket were for danger issues. Homemade fireworks are dangerously inconsistent, making that thing into a bottlerocket would have taken out someones eye.

Small potatoes, my friends got a place out in rural Kansas. So the cops don't bother us. We have a homeade explosive that could leval his barn if we were stupid enough to use it. But for the non-lethal stuff emptiying a bunch of artillary shells into a 2 liter bottle is good. Right now we're grinding up so M-5000s and putting them into a spice jar. And of cource the ever popular blowing up toys with a couple hundred firecrackers.
And Bobert I have that many lying in my room, cost me about $10, wholesale baby!! ^_^

Never say sparklers are lame. Check this out. Linky, if you think they are this will change you tone. Roman candles rock. Oh yeah, some one remind me to post a picture of my Xwind model rocket rigged up with firecrackers.Heh.

Yeah sparklers are awesome, a friend of mine one time made a sparkler grenade, pretty easy: get like 3 boxes of em and electrical tape them together so you can't see them at all, but leave the end of one sticking out as a fuse. Light that baby and throw it fast! My friend taped a barbie to it when he did it and after the explosion (very large and loud) the barbie had decintegrated and there was a 5 by 5 ft. patch of grass/ground missing! It was awesome but I don't recommend it because it almost blew up in his hand.

There is a place about 20 miles from where I live that sells some really good fireworks, but as for the cheap ones, I may consider doing something similar to what Seanbaby did on his site a couple years ago. He took a few shitty to mediocre fireworks, and turned them into a kickass display.

Here's the link: http://www.seanbaby....l/fireworks.htm

Maybe I'll start working on my explosives project after the 4th, when most places start clearancing out their fireworks for REALLY cheap.

Thanks for posting the sparkler link, Gamefreak. Perhaps I should try that one out as well.

I love setting explosive shit on fire.
