While I was at walmart today I found a new panther. Buzzbee decided to add it to the airmax line so they recolored it (again). It has the smaller tank (ugg), but also what I think to be a new over pressure valve. There's a black bulb thing sticking out from the import tube to the tank. I tried plugging it with super glue after super glueing the tank to the import tube which used to be the oprv. So its almost like it has 2 now. It breaks elites with an 8 inch cpvc barrel even when the darts don't have a super tight fit, and stefans just poop out the barrel at 10-15 pumps. I'll fiddle around with it more tomorrow and see if it's leaking air (oprv's actually still working) or something. I was wondering if anyone has seen these and has experienced the same problems.

Something doesn't sound right with that. You are getting enough pressure to rip an elite dart in loose CPVC, but you don't have enough to fire a slug?

Also I think that this redesign has killed the Panther/Air Extreme 1 craze so I don't foresee much done with this version, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, I've been looking at it, just trying to figure out what to use for the side wall/ends, if that makes sense. Fat PVC pipe gets expensive fast!
I'd like to be able to fire some Buzz Bee missiles with this thing if possible haha.

iamthatcat's SSPB writeup perfectly details how to expand back pressure tanks. the method works universally on all tanks. I've done it to Hornet tanks (they appear to be nearly the same size as the new Panthers) and doubled or tripled stock range, so I'm sure this would work fine with the new Panther tanks as well.

I recall someone in the past trying to cut a Hornet tank in half and placing larger ID tubing around it to increase tank size, and it was a failure. So, I believe iamthatcat's method to currently be the most time and cost effective way to increase tank size.

I feel the same way. But nothing i've tried so far has gotten a decent shot. Ive tried loose barrel fits and tight. I modded the other one I bought without plugging the bulb and it is definitely a second oprv. The first generation of smaller tank panthers were okay in my opinion. They got MAYBE ten feet less in range. But these are just atrocious.

The one I plugged is super loud and seems like it shoot shoot like a beast. It seems like it has a faster air release than before. It just baffling that even fully plugged it doesn't shoot like it should.

Got two. Chopped one of the tanks in half. Playing around with making it longer instead of wider. More to come, maybe. Probably not.

I already plugged that one. I saw your post a while ago. It gets up to a much higher pressure than normally, so I know its plugged correctly. It just doesn't like to be modded. Or the ones I bought just hate me.

I got a hornet at the local resale shop today, and was trying to figure out what to do with the tanks. I didnt have any tee's to hook the blast button or the pump with. Then I thought about hooking it up to the panther pump and blast button. The proof of concept is a success. But im having trouble getting it to release air properly. Much of the pressure goes backwards and out the blast button when its pressed. I got a couple shots that shot amazing; about what the panther should do. But it is very difficult to hit the blast button fast enough then release it so the air goes the correct way. Tomorrow im going to cut the other one I bought and salvage the actual panther tank. It is very simple to clip the small black plastic tube and shave off the cross then attach tubing. On this one I just did it once then hooked up the hornet tank. But ill do the same thing twice removing the airmax oprv.
