Hi All,

Haven't played with toys for ages, but have recently got an excellent new man cave and some new equipment.

Check this out.

Still fine tuning the design so this isn't a write up, but it's almost good to go.

I started off trying to do my own Xplorer style breach, which I did but didn't like because it wasn't airtight and there wasn't enough gain for the effort.

Basically it's a kit where you only have to cut 2 tubes to length, and cut the bolt (but not as easy as it sounds).

The rest screws in to existing fixing points.

The kit will have all sorts of bits, including a pusher/bolt alignment tool and a jig to drill your clips (to convert them to stefans) perfectly.

This thing hammers, but is very dart particular.

It's been splitting some types, but one type in particular works well.

Hope you like it.

Cheers,

Really hard to see what's going on. Not sure if this qualifies as a write up...So I don't think this thread will be open for long..
Looks like you've got the 17/32" in the bolt? Seems to have more plastic than most brassed breeches, which is interesting. Similar to my technique. But I can't really tell what's going on at all.

No worries mate,

If it breaks the rules and has to come down, my apologies.

It's not a write up, but it's not a WIP. It's fully operational.

It's a prelude to a full video write up that I'll do in the coming weeks.

Yes, it's 17/32" for the bolt with a 9/16" barrel.

It's printed in very fine resolution in a premium grade of ABS plastic that gives a nice interference fit with the barrel.

The design originated with an Aussie guy called Oxymoron, who came up with the idea of the breach extended all the way through to the bolt guide, and the bolts as just a pusher with no fin (which was prone to damage). He didn't get it fully operational, but he was the true inventor of this design.

As soon as I saw that, I began trying to make it using off the shelf products in Australia.

As the glue was drying on mine, SG released his fully operational design (which is excellent by the way).

Mine failed as the conduit I tried to use was fairly irregular and I tried to run the whole guide in brass, which had too much friction for the application.

SG most graciously sent me some bits of the "Singaplastic" tube he uses, and I just never got around to it.

The idea is that it all drops straight in. You only have to cut 2 lengths of tube and your bolt, and glue them in.

Having said that, it's still an advanced mod and I have 2 dead and 2 wounded Stampedes to prove it.

Plenty of spares in the box.

An absolutely detailed video installation guide will be forthcoming.

"Sneak previews" are fine, but they should go into the Mods/paintjobs thread. Full writeups get their own threads.

As a heads up, for your write-up: add text and descriptions to your post, and not just in the video, so it'll show up in searches.

No worries mate, I'll do all that.

G'day

I was just wondering where in Australia can you get those brass tubes and stuff that you have. I can't seem to find them anywhere around Sydney. And if possible are you able to do all that as a commission since my modding skills are novice at best.

Cheers

You should be able to get K&S brass tubes from hobby stores and certain Toyworlds with hobby departments. If not, there's always buying it online from websites such as hobbyco or hobbyman.
