Because when it's like this where you live:

It's like this in Houston:

Because our average winter highs and lows are in the 60s and 40s, respectively.

Because Andy and David are amazing Nerfers and I'm not that bad of a guy, if I do say so myself.

And because, dammit, a big winter war sounds like fun. Something to do when it's too cold where you are to be able to get out and play.

At this point, I'm just looking at overall interest and seeing if something like this is worthy of planning out. If you are interested in coming down, please let me know and give me ideas for when you'd be available. Hopefully we can get this thing rolling.

Oh, and one more reason:

I look damned good in a suit.

It sounds like a great idea if only Houston wasn't fucking terrible.

Don't mind the smell of the thread; some users seem to feel the need to mark their territory. Anyway, I could see some clans or regular groups bus/car-pooling, but it'd have to be for one or maybe a max of two pre-planned major event days. Like, 30-40 people. Otherwise anywhere far enough away for the location to make a difference would also be too far for it to be worth it.

I'm the only respectable person here. The rest of the NIC are pretty much just child molesters.

This is what we are shooting for. Unfortunately, there are only about three regular NIC nerfers in Texas, so we'll need as many out-of-towners as we can get. Hopefully the prospect of a war in the dead or the offseason is a big enough draw to get people down here. We also have some non-regulars that have come out a time or two, hopefully we can get them involved.

What makes a little more sense would be for the three of you to do the traveling for a war. You know instead of hoping 30 people will travel cross country for a hosted by only three locals.

This is something we would definitely be down to do, if there was such a thing going on nearby. But that just isn't happening, so rather than taking a passive approach, I wanted to see if there was a possibility of actually doing something more active.

Of course, it may well fall through--hence this thread, gauging interest. We have three extremely active members in the area and about 10 more moderates and a few dozen people who might show up at any given time. It's not exactly as small as snakerbot makes it out to be, but hey, if someone else wants to plan something, I'm definitely game.

Honestly, this has baffled me for years. Houston is the fourth biggest city in the country, where are all the nerfers? And it's not like we've just bee sitting and waiting, hoping people find out about us. We've reached out to the colleges and HvZ groups at said colleges, pretty much everyone I know is aware of this hobby and has been invited to wars, (as far as I know, JP has done the same) but we never get much in the way of takers. (I'm aware of the member database Langley, that has seen some use as well.) Realistically, JP is right when he said we have more than three, it's just only us three that you can expect at basically every war in the state.

If someone reading this has better ways to advertise, by all means, send me a message, but let's not clutter up the thread. We only put this out there to see how much interest we get.

Hey you guys are not alone! I am a Texas Nerfer from a city called Abilene, about 2 and a half hours from Dallas. As far as I can tell, there is a college doing HVZ, but I am to shy to see if I can get in on it. Other than that, I see no interest in Nerf wars besides myself and one other in this whole damn city! It would be a joy to go to a war, but 7 hours to Houston is a bit of a stretch for me. I know that is not a big deal for some of you, but that's what comes when you live in like the 3rd largest state in the US. I have just started modding professionally and I really would like to go to a war down there but I just can't. If there was a war in Dallas, then maybe the stars would allign and I would be able to go. Anyway, just saying Texas Nerfers need to band together to stay afloat. Anyway, just clarifying my existence in Texas on this thread!
