Aright, here's what I'm trying to do. I've noticed that when you get a shipping quote, you need weight information. Now to those of us who don't have quick, easy access to a post office, due to where we live (like me), or a scale that registers objects as light as nerf blasters, this can be problematic.. So what I would like to start here is basically like the internals, or modifications directory of Nerf blasters.

I'll start with some basic blasters, and if this takes off, all the better, if not no big deal. I'm weighing these using a friends scale, and it may not be accurate, so if you have something different, feel free to add, or add blaster weights that I haven't added yet.

All measurements were without batteries, and darts. I will eventually convert everything to one unit, but that's a later project.

Also, please PM me with any weights you may have for blasters that aren't listed yet, as to avoid cluttering up the topic. Thanks.

This will actually be pretty useful. Great idea.

Future contributors: I would suggest simply PMing 481IceDragon with any measurements you've taken. For purposes of keeping things simple, I'd suggest weighing the blasters without batteries (why ship those?), accessories or clips. I suggest just having a separate entry for clip/attachment weights, so that we don't have to list blasters twice.

All measurements were taken without batteries.. And clips barely weigh anything. But I will try and do attachents separate.

If you want to make the list truly useful, you need to weigh a matching box that would fit each blaster. The post office isn't just weighing the contents, after all. Even then, each person packages a shipment differently.

Personally, I think you're looking at a lot of listing work for what will end up being not much more accurate than a ballpark estimate.

Nerf Firestrike 170g
Nerf Nite Finder 180g
Nerf Strongarm 330g
Nerf Supermaxx 750 (new style) 200g
Nerf Supermaxx 1500 (old style 420g
Nerf Raider 530g
Lanard Triple shot Clear X (without stock) 440g - Stock 50g
Mortar Pistol 450g

Taken with an analogue kitchen scale so a small margin of error is to be expected.

I'm not trying to make an exact shipping price tag for each blaster, just something to reference when some says, hey can I get a shipping quote to 123456, and you don't have a scale, so you check here, and find the blasters will way X pounds, and you estimate on the website based on that number. Then you can say that shipping will be About $X. Because it gets to be frustrating when you put your blasters in the packaging, and bring it to the P.O and get the shipping quote, and tell the person, it's this much, and then they say, aww that's too much sorry can't do it. That's my basis for this thread.

I get what you are trying to do here, but I am in total agreement with Carbon. Boxes and packaging can easily add a pound or two if not more to the actual weight and the range your package is in determines price more than anything. I've often had cases where cutting off one flap of a cardboard box saved over $5 in shipping costs. If you've shipped more than a dozen packages, I strongly suggest you buy a simple 11 lb food scale. You can get one on amazon for ten bucks HERE.

I think this sort of directory would be useful, but only if it is comprehensive and accurate. What throws this for a loop (and what may ultimately make this sort of directory impractical) is the weight of the packaging, which can vary by quite a lot.

This could be useful for people who have blasters in storage, because they could just look up the blaster's weight and weigh the package, and then add them together.

You can also go to the carriers website and calculate the shipping as well.

You would still need the weight of the blaster to get an estimate...

I think this is a great idea, in spite of the variation in packaging weights. 481IceDragon, you can expect period PMs from me with lists of the weights
of blasters I am shipping out. Another good thing to know is whether the blaster will require a box with one or more dimensions longer than 12", since that is another cost threshold for USPS.

Your failure to compile hardly any list at all before posting it and asking us to do the work for you shows your laziness and lack of dedication. You mention the Internals Directory, but don't take cheesypiza001's cue of assembling an almost complete list of blaster internals before asking the community for the missing ones. Carbon and ForsakenAngel24 didn't put up five or so homemades or modified blasters either and then ask us to spoon feed the rest of them to themselves. They completed the entire list themselves and were congratulated and admired for being original, hard working, and helpful, not lazy, and taxing. I know that you don't have every blaster, but you barely put any effort into this at all. I'm sure that you have more blasters than the ones that you weighed, and it is almost certain that you didn't even try to look up on the internet the weight of any blaster. It is a general example of your complete lack of effort in your entire forum life. You didn't even take the effort to spell the first word of your post correctly. You really should feel ashamed.

You are not the NIC police.

After all though, it is all supposed to be for the good of the community, so I guess let's help him out.

Nerf.wikia.com has weight and dimensions of most blasters that are N-Strike and after. Just type in "N-Strike" or whatever line you are searching for, click on N-Strike, and make tabs out of the blasters there.

I think it is an excellent idea to standardize each blaster's listing in this manner, having weight in pounds and ounces first and then length in feet and inches. Length is important for determining a shipping quote because price also depends on length, not just weight. I also suggest weighing each blaster without magazines, belts, accessories.

-Blaster's Name: weight of blaster in pounds and ounces, blaster's length in feet and inches

I noticed that your post mixes Metric with English. There are many fast, easy-to-use online Metric to English converters. Typing in "Metric conversion" to Google will bring up their converter.

Since Nerf.wikia.com does not have specifications on most pre-N-Strike blasters, here are some.

-Missilestorm: 10 oz., 12"

-Secret Shot: 6.6 oz., 10.25"

-Blast Fire DX 500: 1 lb. 4.7 oz., 14.25"

-Air Tech 3000: 1 lb. 3.5 oz., 15.75"

-Master Blaster: 1 lb. 7.5 oz., 25.5"

Nerf Vortex

-Proton: 10.1 oz., 10"

-Vigilon: 1 lb. 1.7 oz., 12.25"

-Praxis: 1 lb. 4.7 oz., 18.25"

-Pyragon: 1 lb. 8 oz., 19"

N-Strike

-Big Bad Bow (with bow arms attached): 1 lb. 8.7 oz., 22" x 25" tall (The bow arms make it that tall.)

-Alpha Trooper: 1 lb. 1.6 oz., 20"

Elite

-Hail-Fire: 2 lb. 3.2 oz. 20" x 10" wide

Accessories

- Raider stock: 4.2 oz., 7.5" (folded) 10.5" (extended)

-Praxis stock: 6 oz., 11.25"

-Vortex ten-round magazine: 2.6 oz., 6.2"

-Vortex Pyragon forty-round drum magazine: 1 lb. 5.3 oz., 10" x 5.2" wide

-Retaliator stock: 3.8 oz., 8.25" x 6.5" tall

-Retaliator foregrip: 1.6 oz., 4.75" x 3.6" wide

I really like this idea and I will try to help out where I can. Don't forget that Amazon lists the exact weight and dimensions of each blaster (packaged obviously). This is usualyy how I guesstimate postage costs.

Rather than create a new topic here, why not just update the Nerf Wiki? Surely it's the best place for this sort of information?

1) next time you want to talk mad shit about me, at least reply to something I said so I get a notification.

2) laziness? Lack of dedication? Sorry I don't have enough money to go and buy every fucking nerf gun hasbro ever made.

3) "I'm sure that you have more blasters then the ones you weighed." "You barely put any effort into this at all" Really? Seriously? I weighed every damn blaster I had, and my friend had. Where's your thread or with all the weights in it? Huh? Exactly.

4) "It is a general example of your complete lack of effort in your entire forum life" Jesus, what the fuck I do to you?

5) I didn't spell my first words right? Sew serry I can't spel.

6) there's no reason the work couldn't have been shared equally between members. If everybody put up one weight it would have been done in a day.

7) "you really should feel ashamed" Who the fuck are you to judge me? What exactly is up your ass? I'm fairly sure every administrator or moderator read this thread, and didn't say anything like what your saying, but mr perfect says I should be ashamed, so I'm going to go drink bleach now.

8) on the lack of effort, yeah, I stopped putting into the thread because several flaws were pointed out that basically voided all the work I did.

9) the nerf wiki arguement. I was totally unaware of that site at the time, and I apologize for being such a fucking ignorant moron

10)Go fuck your self.
