Um, hi! I know that you're thinking about an explosive device, but that's not what I wanna find out about.

I was hoping to find an idea for a powdery kind of smokescreen that doesn't use a fuse that needs to be lit or a firework.

Any thoughts or ways to make this "smoke grenade"?

What's the deal with smoke anyway, ecxept a cool toy? It doesn't really help, because it doesn't make a big screen. If you make a cheap one that works, then if you use a lot, then that would be effective, not to mention it would ROCK!!!

Flash bangs would be cool, but like a smoker, would but ineffective. It would be fun, but dangerous, to flash them at people. I would make a flash bang by taking apart a Mag Lite and tape into a land mine shape...

Thats my basic design i devised.

I was going to post earlier but photobucket was blocked at school . . .

Some of you may remember the design of this, i devised it earlier in the year. Generally, two film canisters, pressed together against a divider or cap, by a strong rubber band [or elastic, whatever you want to call it] or two. The sheer force of the bands holding the canisters together against each other, which can be easily disturbed by a knock or hit, creates enough force for the contents to be flung out at a very fast rate, but you'll have to experiment about power levels and positioning.

The contents can either be just little, inanimate foam pieces, or pieces compacting a heavy spring so that the moment they see an opening, they'll fly like all hell.

As i said, it's up to you to experiment with positioning and power levels for this grenade design.

1)i'm sorry, but what the fuck is catapultational? not a word.
2)the sheer force of a rubber band, easily disturbed by a knock or hit flings the contents at a a very fast rate? i don't think so...unless these rubber bands are from mars.
3)inanimate foam pieces? i prefer the kind that dance around and sing, i think they'd work better for this design. the animate ones have a better chance of "seeing an opening", and then flying like hell.


just pick fewer exaggerating, ridiculous and non-existent adjectives.

My rubber-bands are pretty tight. The force holding the two canisters together does well to propel the 'inanimate' foam pieces around. And i also meant inanimate as in 'not being forced out by a spring', but i see where you're coming from.

By the way, how about you actually try it first, then flame?

Two things wrong with this:

1) it's only going to spew foam in one direction. What if you toss it and it spins around in the air and the "barrel" is pointed back at you?

2)same as the first I guess.... what if the "barrel" is facing the ground or another object.

If you could plant these as mines, they might work, but you have something that shoots nerf in a 15 degree wide field, when we're hoping for at least a 180 degree spray.

If you play total dark nerf wars all you have to do for a flashbang is tape a few noise makers together.I play total dark wars in my friends basement and if there is no light(or almost none) they will make a big flash and the sound + flash in compleat dark scares the shnikes outta ya,if your not expecting it.
