A few months ago I purchased 20 ft of FBR (Foam backer rod), and when I had made a few stefans, I put one in a CPVC barrel and it would fall out if I pointed down or fall in if I pointed up. Is there any way of thickening the foam (Besides tape?)

Your foam isn't thick enough? Ask your doctor about a 90-day supply of Natural Foam Enhancement.
Actually, I've had some luck with leaving my pillowcase of blanks in the dryer for about double the time I normally would just to straighten them (around 15 minutes on medium) However, the foam can easily go back to its original state so you may want to just look into purchasing some new foam.

Maybe you have 1/4 inch foam backer rod, if you do than go buy some 1/2 inch FBR. If it is 1/2 heating up your FBR will make it bigger
