The Air Zone line has been expanding as of late; rebrandings of the Lanard Rotator X-8 Revolver and a Prime Time Toys ball blaster are on shelves, and there are a few more exciting ones popping up as well (hint: there's a double barreled shotgun firing large ammo). Today, we'll be going over the Foam Dart Shooter.

$10 buys you a revamped Buzz Bee Hunter, it turns out. It's now top-loading, and pump action instead of bolt action.

Unlike the Hunter, however, is the nature of the breech itself. The "barrel" the dart sits in is a 1 1/2" long black tube with a restrictor and dart peg inside. This short stubby barrel places the dart far forward - the next pic shows where the dart would be sitting if it was in the barrel.

This presents us with the first official mod: removing the dart peg and restrictor. Use your pliers to rip the peg out, then use a 1/2" drill bit to take out the restrictor. Now your darts will sit as far back as possible - streamlines and Elite darts will still have the heads sticking out, and suction darts will of course go as far back as the dart head will allow.

Stock, this blaster was shooting about the same as a Hunter (no big surprise there). After removing the AR and dart peg, however, the Foam Dart Shooter was matching the ranges of my stock Nerf Retaliator.

I hope to eventually do more with this blaster; completely replacing the black tube would be required in order to effectively use stefans. But at least with the extra roomy shell and pump action, we have more ways for people to mod/replace internals than we would for past Buzz Bee "rifles".

There goes my dream of brass breeching this, (still a nice shell though.)
I must say, that priming mechinism looks stronger opposed to the other buzz bee models.
