I was modding my BuzzBee Panther and when I pulled out the pump I noticed 3 thing: 1-The pump is now black, 2-The Pump is no longer circular so therefore it will not turn upside down it will stay straight when pumping, And 3-There is no Over Pressure Valve. And the new pump is what this is about.
When I still pump it it sounds like the OPV is kicking in but I'm not sure. The back of the pump has no hole anywhere. The little rubber stick thing in the pump tube that would normally activate the OPV is there, but is flattened as if you plugged the pump so it could no longer go in. I don't know if Buzz Bee just got rid of the OPV or it's ninja hidden somewhere. I purchased my Panther at my local Meijer. Everthing is the same except for the pump and the stick that the trigger pushes up to release the air, that no longer has a hole in the bottom, (If you didn't know, that previously has a hole in it so when it released the air, some of the air would come out of it, and that no longer happens).
I will get pictures up in the next hour or two, I have to do school and take apart the blaster.

Pretty sure the OPV is still there. Look really close at the bck of the circular section, where it meets the I-beam. There should still be a tiny hole there.

I have had the same experience with an Airzone panther from TRU. You can remove a little deadspace by filling the empty cavity with hotglue.

Yep, we've known about the pump's I-beam for a while now. The OPRV, if it's not on the pump face anymore, is probably moved to a different location, maybe onto the tank. Or they used some other method, like purposefully deadspacing the pump to limit the peak pressure while pumping, thus limiting the peak pressure that can be obtained from pumping.

You'd be wrong in saying that. So you might not want to. Have you ever seen the head of a bike pump? They have no reason for an OPRV and thus lack the extra space behind the o-ring for it. That entire assembly on the pump head of the Panther (and everything else) is to house the OPRV. If it were not there, then they would change the design to remove the extra plastic. It would save them money. But it would also open them up to a lawsuit because there is not a reasonable safety mechanism in place.

That's not how OPV's work. They are just valves that are spring-closed, so when the pressure on the tank side of the plunger head is high enough, it overcomes the spring and pushes the valve open. The rubber stem in the pump tube is part of the flap-style check valves that are in most (all?) nerf gun pumps.

Guys there is an easy way to test this. Stock panther pump opv's kick ing around 4-6 pumps. Xpro and whoever else has one of these please pump your panthers 4-6 times. Then after that do the pumps get harder and have more resistance or do they feel the same each time? If they feel the same there is an opvr somewhere. Lets not go 20 posts arguing between people that have and don't have it. I can't imagine buzz bee or airzone would have made it without an opvr as that is technically dangerous.

At 6 pumps it gets harder to pump.

Regardless of where the OPRV is or is not, this was not worthy of a new thread. There's an internals thread because no one actually cares.
