Hey everyone, first post here and it's a pretty simple mod but I didn't see much discussion on springs for the little terror known as the triad so I figured I would post this up, here we go. I found a tek 4 and wondered what I could do with it when I realized the spring was actually decent and seemed almost like an elite spring in diameter.

You will need-
1x Nerf Triad EX-3
1x Buzzbee Tek 4 (because I hate them and I found it for $.99)
1x screwdriver
1x brute strength or wire cutting tool

Now open up the Tek 4 by removing the screws. This is pretty easy because they didn't glue anything on this gun like the newer ones (cough panther)

Simply pull on the pull back bar to remove the plunger rod and spring after lifting it slightly out of the shell or just remove it from the shell all together. The next part was the most annoying because they included some kind of internal spring system in the plunger itself to where the bar doesn't actually separate from the plunger, but we are only interested in the main spring. Compress the spring and bend the bar back and forth until it breaks or cut the bar with a cutting tool like pliers or wire cutters.
(while your at it unscrew the bottom of the Triad and remove the plunger and unscrew the plunger head to slip off the spring)

The Tek 4 spring nests perfectly inside the Traid spring with a little screwing to get it inside. I elected to turn the plunger pull sideways for convenience as mentioned in many other Jolt and Triad mods. Compress the spring a bit in order to screw the plunger head back on making sure the + shaped rod lines up in the slot on the bottom of the plunger head.

Comments, suggestions, flames?

Ranges are impressive for still having the needed air restrictors, parallel to ground
Low- 64 feet
Averages- 75 feet
best- 91 feet

P.S. if anyone could help me rotate the images that would be great

Well done with this find. A 10-20 ft. gain from just adding a spring is pretty impressive. The Tek 4 is such an amazing spare parts blaster. I have taken all of mine apart for their turrets, so it's nice to have a use for the leftover spring now.

Edit: I tried this out and it surpassed my expectations. It took all of five minutes and gets ranges 5 ft. (Tested) shy of my CPVC couplered, Ace 49 Nitefinder.
