Hey everyone, I'm planning another Bay Area nerf war, sometime in mid to late November, and I'd need to know what weekends work best for everyone. (Yes, weather is a factor, so we'll re-schedule if the day we pick gets rained out.)
This war will also be sort of a "debut" for the new Norcal nerfing group, B.A.N.A.N.A, Bay Area North American Nerf Alliance. It's my attempt at helping share and promote all the various nerf and HVZ events around here so we can get more people to show up, and create a tighter community. What does that mean exactly? Not a whole lot, but for people that attend I'm going to set aside a bit of time to talk about it, and shoot ideas back and forth.
Location: William Cann Neighborhood park, Union City CA
DATE: Jan. 26th from 11:00 a.m. til whenever we get tired! (usually around 4 or 5)
Same rules as usual, no ridiculously overpowered blasters, no sharp objects in your darts, and no 3/0 weighted, or slingshot darts.
There's a burger place a short walk/drive away from the park that we usually go to for lunch, and we usually do lunch around 1 or 2.

Gametypes: Team Deathmatch, capture the flag, pistol rounds, etc. (And maybe defend the core...)

Dart restrictions: No pointed objects (thumbtacks, nails, etc.) can be in your darts, no exposed metal, wirewrap darts, slingshot and 3/0 darts are pending my approval, I'll say no unless you send me pictures of them and they're not poorly made. Missiles, arrows, balls, and other oversized foam ammo is allowed.

Blaster Restrictions: Use common sense (No realistic blasters), no singled cobras, titans, roto rockets, or homemade air blasters unless you put shotgun barrels on them, with at least 3 barrels on them. Plugged big blasts, LBBs, and similar air blasters are banned unless they've got a perfectly functioning OPRV. I reserve the right to spot ban blasters, so I'd advise you bring a back up (You should always bring a back up anyways)Melee is allowed

What to bring: Water, blasters (Primary, secondary, and bringing back-ups is a good idea.) darts (Stock or stefans) and EYE PROTECTION! If you don't bring any, you're not allowed to participate! Optional: Stuff to trade and/or sell, nerfy stuff for the raffle, etc.

P.S. If you're not a member of any NIC forums and need to message me, do so at Righteousfondue (at) yahoo.com

All attendees must be 13 years or older to attend, and I reserve the right to kick anyone out if they're disobeying the rules set, and enforced by me.

Heads up all, looks like rain, so the war is pushed back to the 24th.

DISCLAIMER: By attending this war, you have to A. Allow me to show your likeness in my war videos which will be posted on youtube, or B. Wear a mask of some sort to cover your face, I'm not going to go and edit your face out just because you didn't listen to my rules. If you don't want to do either of these things, then you're not welcome at my war, and I will have to ask you to leave.

Date has been finalized as the 26th. Thread will be edited accordingly.

UPDATE: I'll be doing this next week, since I've been busy lately, and will be out of town for the rest of this week.

Is this BANO group an alternate to BAFF? Same group? I was a regular with the BAFF crowd a few years back, not sure if some of them migrated here. Same park for the war, though. I will probably be able to make it.

EDIT- Put me down as a definite, assuming an adequate number of people commit.

Well, BAFF sort of died a while ago, so I started hosting my own wars, and made my own groups B.A.N.A.N.A., since I wasn't a part of BAFF and didn't think I should keep the name, also to avoid confusion.

This is pretty much the new Bay Area NIC group, there's also BURN, and DUGG, but those both require you to be 18+ years old for liability reasons.

Thanks for clarification. Is this war still on track for the 26th? Do we have enough attendees so far? You can still count me as a definite with a probable +1

Currently it looks like there's going to be at least 5 people, plus BURN and DUGG have both been known to come in groups un-announced, so it could be anywhere from 5 to 25.

I just want to make sure is the war still going to be the 26th? If so I'll be there and possibly with 1-2 guests.

On a side note I'll be bringing panthers and longshots for trade. I am looking for a pumpsnaps, berserkers, and settlers of catan.

Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to get some dart approval

My darts are slingshot weighted. They do not fall apart easily, even in my more powerful blasters. I thought I'd post the pictures here for everyone to see so I can get some widespread veritable approval. I do not want anyone getting angry/injured on Saturday.

If you say nay, its cool. I can pick up some more foam at the Ace in Palo Alto and get working on some AMIORS.

I am not the host but I feel that slingshots are way too heavy to be used safely even with felt pad. With those weight you can go pass the 110' mark out of most if not all of the 100' hitting primaries.

Alright if you aren't comfortable I'll whip up some AMIORS then. What style of darts are other people using?

I'm going to be using stock darts, elite darts especially.

So is it a definite "no" on the slingshot weighted darts then? Elite darts won't fit my breech, and they're a tad too light.

I'd definitely prefer you make AMIORS, I mainly made the rules allowing them if I okay them in case that's all someone had, and couldn't make any more.

Ok no worries I will make some AMIORS. If anyone wants any, I can make extra. I will be using grey foam so if you use 17/32, polyester or cpvc you can pm me.

Ok guys, as of now it looks a lot like rain this Saturday, and I've come down with a pretty nasty cold (I'm not sure if I'll get over it by Saturday), so we're most likely going to have to post-pone the war. If we did this, would you guys like to vote on a whole new date in February, or just push it back to the 9th? I can't do the 2nd since I've got a rocket launch for my team most of that day.

If we are going to move the date can we set it to the 16th?

I just checked the weather and it looks like it'll be clear tomorrow till next week. So if you guys still want to have a war I don't mind meeting up still with host or no host.

Yea, it actually does look clear through the weekend. I would like to meet up on Saturday, provided there is still interest and people have not scheduled something else already. For those who already planned on coming: still interested?

We should keep checking the forecast:
