With absolutely no intention to Necro, I am posting this partly on behalf of the OP, Sinaz20.

I contacted him yesterday about any updates to the XB-REV-001 project and he does have some updates. He also asked me to help post his response here so that everyone could see it, so...

Hey man!

I'm wondering if you have any updates about the XB-REV-001?
The last you updated was back in December...
haha :)

I am stuck at the printing phase... I couldn't reach a pricing agreement with any printer, so I began sourcing parts to build a prusa 3d printer. I am also exploring using paper craft and resin laminating to build the hand feel prototype while I construct the 3d printer.

Do me a favor and ask this question in the thread so I can respond publicly? Thanks for the interest.

There.

Oh, hah-- I had intended to just answer the question here, yeah.

So, sorry I've been quiet.

I'd been going back and forth with Ponoko... the only 3D printing place that would print something weapon shaped. But no matter how much I thought I was optimizing it, I just couldn't get the price down. (The pricing I had been quoted before was so small because their uploader kept reverting the scale to miniature size.)

Anyway, yeah, i'm still working on this-- I'm just a little stuck at the moment.

Have you seen the Robo 3D kickstarter? It's a machine that's supposed to rival a Makerbot for ~$500. The kickstarter was a huge success, and they're starting to work on shipping out the machines ordered. They'll take new orders to ship once the kickstarter run has fully shipped on their website.

Alternatively, there is still the makerspace thing; for a prototype it might be worth doing just so you have something completed.

Also, this is an interesting (if likely rediculously dangerous) method of finishing 3d printed parts (Alternatemethod that's the same thing).

I know a guy who works for Shapeways. Have you already conclusively determined that they won't make this?

Whats the current status on this? Did it hit a dead end? If so, is there a way you could share the blueprints for people with access to a 3D printer?
