I used the search function and didn't find what i was looking for.

Somewhere on the interwebs, i once found a tutorial for a mod that altered the Praxis so it wouldn't accidentally drop magazines. I haven't been able to find it since. I haven't been able to find it here at NH. Now I hear the Pyragon has the same problem. I don't own a Pyragon yet but i want to get one and i'm not too keen on dropping a complicated mag on the ground all the time.

I seem to recall that the mod I'm talking about involved filing down something on a part connected to the trigger that extended forward but other than that I can't remember.

can you guys advise? thanks.

Put a stronger spring on the clip release. I'm not very familiar with vortex blasters but I assume it uses a spring to hold the clip in place.

Sometimes the pieces of plastic for the trigger (at least the piece attached to the trigger) and the clip release are both on the upper end of the tolerance scale. When that happens, the trigger can rub against it and engage the clip release.

Look up Cheyner's Max Spring Replacement Praxis, there's pictures in there showing that particular issue.

I also have had this problem. A good remedy is to use a stronger spring, as Funky said. I used one from a click pen, which had a bit more strength.

This will work on the Praxis, but I have discovered it still needs a spring added to use the 40 disc mag on it, it drops as soon as I prime my Praxis.
I have had no problems with my Pyragon, but I have not used it as much as my Praxis yet.

Someone on another forum just sent me a link to Drac's video where he has another fix for the mag drop problem which is slightly different from Cheyner's:

Looks alright to me. Cheyner, what do you think?

Its worth doing, but not a true solve to the issue, it goes deeper then that. My Praxis will drop the heavier 40 round mag as soon as you prime it, but again on the trigger pull, so I guess it is at least a half fix to the problem.

I don't usually watch his videos, and had to laugh at 6:36 or so when he said "as you can see" and it was horribly out of focus.

Your right, it does go deeper. In fact, yesterday, I opened up the gun and was doing some extra modding, when I realized that the clip catch only has about 2 millimeters of surface area that protrudes into the mag-well. There is a nub on each side of the catch piece which can be dremeled off to allow the catch to move further forward. I can post pictures if needed.

In blasters such as the praxis and pryragon, there is a little nub that holds the trigger return spring on the trigger. That nub can occasionally catch on the clip-drop mechanism (it's right next to the trigger) and drop your clip.
