This may seem like a stupid question, but I'm new at modding and I haven't got a drill yet. Is there any way to remove the air restrictor from a recon without drilling it?

Screwdriver and hammer.... make sure the screwdriver is a little bit smaller than the breach or you will get stress marks.

For basics like this. Please check the mod directory, or go to Orange Mod Works website, they have free PDF files for basic modifications to the Raider, Recon, Longstrike, and Alpha Trooper.
My Youtube PageGriever 2112 still plays with his alpha trooper quite often despite owning one of the scariest +bows.
