I've recently tried to make a pump grip (captain slugs) for my longshot, and when I tried to cut the poly carb with my saw it simply melt welded the kerf lines back together, and the vibrations from the saw shot cracks through the sheet. This is very frustrating as it was a fifty dollar sheet. I looked on the forum and could not find any topics on how to go about this process, so if anyone who has cut polycarbonate, could post how, and anything they wish they'd done differently, that would be awesome. And if this needs to be moved to off topic, please let me know. Thanks,

EDIT: well I'm still limited on posts so ill just edit. I just checked the receipt and it sad 1sheet,clr acrylic. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck. I was assured it was polycarbonate and it said, polycarbonate. Lying Home Depot.....curses be upon you...

What kind of saw are you using and what kind of blade are you using with you saw? The melting is caused by too much friction from the blade of your saw, so you may want to try turning down the speed of your saw if you can so that it will be less likely to melt you polycarbonate and it should reduce some of the vibrations.

The sheet cracking makes me think it might have been acrylic instead of polycarbonate. Where did you get it, and what was it labeled as?

Snakerbot is probably right, polycarb is very strong, and will not usually break/have hairline cracks. When I cut polycarb, I use a cheap bandsaw from lowes. I find that 15-18 TPI (teeth-per-inch) usually gets the job done pretty smooth.(no pun intended)

If you got it from home depot, just return it. Tell them it was labeled incorrectly.

Too late. The sheets already been cut up and cracked and whatnot. And I piece shattered and the fucker cut my face when it kicked up, so I blew it sky high with a pile of tannerite and anAR15....
