If you're going to coupler it then just pry it open, like a book. It will tear at the orange piece. Just cut the shell and add coupler.
Do what Facko is saying. I know for a fact that you cannot pry it off with a screwdriver because there is too much glue. The shell the screwdriver pushes against will give out before the glue does.
What I did was I cut marks with my utility knife where I wanted the shell to break, then pulled it apart like a book. This way I think the shell broke with a cleaner cut, and there was less of a chance of the entire front of the shell cracking, etc.

blah blah not everyone has one blah blah.
Either way, cutting it clean off is by far the cleanest and fastest method if you don't care too much about keeping it "stock-like."

I am selling buzz bee panthers. They shoot 100 feet in 12 pumps. If interested go toI just wedged it open till i could get the internals out and never took off the orange piece, looks stock still with cpvc barrels. Also just slightly widend the orange piece for cpvc to fit.

After watching Baghead mod six or seven of these at the last S.C.U.N. war using the "book" method, its frackin' fool proof man. I think it was new Matt who at the same war tried both prying with a screwdriver and sawing and was unable to open it...untill Bags opened it with his bare hands.
By the way panthers are the new 2ks. Best. Loaners. Ever.
Longshots are terribad and you should feel bad.
Crossbow shells suck and your mom sucks.
