The location is as follows. 1201 Samoa way,Roseville CA.The cross sreet is N.Cirby way. This will be the meetimg place. There will be a alternate location, in the event that the war location,is subject to weather conditions. There will be a breaks, and feel free to bring your own snacks. And dress for the occasion.I will provide stock guns and armmo. I am allowing the age group to be 13 and older. I am hoping to have 5 or more people at this event. You'd get more interest if you moved the war to Sacramento, as it seems to be closer to the majority of the interested parties. Two people have already expressed their discontent with this, one saying he was unsure whether he'd even be able to show up because of the war's current location in Roseville.

Discovery park is a good option, as there's plenty of trees and nature to use for cover as well as being easy to find and located near all the major freeways.

There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding rules, what is allowed, and what isn't allowed. Maybe you should write out and post the rule set so everyone is on the same page.

Conducting a rules briefing at an ORP before the game will take a long time since no one knows what you are trying to do. You expect to be playing with people you have never played before, so expect people to have different ideas about how games are supposed to be run. With a written rule posted for everyone to see; people can ask questions prior to game play, point out things that may not be covered in the rules set, and have a general idea of what kind of they can bring. Also, people will show up with what they want to play with. What if you explain the rules at the game and their weapon's end up being banned? They could use the crappy stock guns you bring, but then you are punishing them for something that you could have prevented.

"The catergory is as follows. Awful guns, awful games. Grif ball is melee. Cones, hand held pistol."

I have no idea what any of that means.

Just check out this web page that BURN runs.
http://bayareaburn.webs.com/

It has safety rules, game rules, equipment rules, and overviews of game types. It even includes pictures from older games. You can see the type of weapon systems people run, the flags and props used, and load-outs people run. I would look at it as an example of what correct looks like.

Just giving you some stuff to think about.

Or better yet, give the job to somebody who already knows how to properly conduct such an event. Please, take no offense; you're just obviously inexperienced. Keep in mind I'm not the first to mention this. You still haven't mentioned eye protection or dart construction requirements- two basic concepts, the need of which is nearly universally accepted by the entire nic. We shouldn't have to tell you the basics of organizing a war, these things generally go without saying.

All guns are allowed, except the titan

I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that, plenty of guns are equally as powerful as a titan, cobras can be MORE powerful. Plugged lbbs, big blasts, rotorockets, etc etc.

Honestly at the moment you've got no clue on how to host a war. Read threads on it, check other people's war threads, and if possible, experience one firsthand. There aren't that many nerfers in your area other then the DUGG group, but I don't think they'd really even want to attend an un-organized event like what this is turning out to be.

I don't want to discourage anyone who wants to run an event, from running an event.

You can always learn and get better. Or you can think your events are perfect (when they're not) and continue to suck.
I doubt anyone thinks their first event is perfect. These things are learning experiences. They take trial and error.

Besides, I don't see an over abundance of people who are willing to run events in the bay area.

What everone is mentioning may not seem obvious at first, so let me break it down for you.

1) Format - The format you use to communicate what you are trying to do is important.
Keep in mind the people in these forums are +16 years old. Your event broadcast is a single post on page 3 of this thread.
If you want to put out the news of you event, START A NEW TOPIC. Because right now you are posting under "planning a nerf war."
Also, it is in paragraph form. Really? Come on, you are better than that. Just look at what everyone else is doing.
MANO is on war 9.5, so maybe they know what they are doing: http://nerfhaven.com...showtopic=23214
NJW is on war 11, they have 10 past games to learn from. Check out their format: http://nerfhaven.com...showtopic=23193
This is what Righteous_Fondue did with his BANO game that I went to: http://nerfhaven.com...opic=22910&st=0
I would take all the commonalities and find a format you like, start a new topic, and post your information like how others have done it.

2) Know the audience - If you expect new people to show up, don't expect them to know what you know. You have to make sure that people understand the rules you are trying to play by. Also, you need to understand what weapon systems people run in your area. Homemades are big with the BANO guys, DUGG like to use mods and some homemades, only like 2-3 people in BURN run homemades and everyone else runs mods or stock n-strike. If you don't know what people are going to bring to the fight, you need to prepare for everything that people could bring to the fight (under your rule set).

3) Try to have a clear rule set that covers most (if not all) questions - High power blasters (define what those are), eye protection, melee, shields, stefans/slugs/domes, barrel tapes, ANY SAFETY CONCERNS, gun hits, any limitations need to be known before hand. People will always want to
prepare for an event, but they won't if they don't know what they can or can't do. That's why you can't just go over the rules when people arrive or offer to answer them as a post in a topic. It would take forever to answer all the questions you didn't think about before hand.

Don't listen to all the negative stuff everyone else is putting out. Just try to pick up on advice that is thrown out there.
You are aiming for nerf player as young as 13. So, I don't expect you to be running the coolest events out there.
My first few nerf games were a bunch of friends playing in the park. Just take it one step at a time.

You should allow #6 washer slug darts and single BB domes only.As slugs are very safe and the people who don't have proper supplies can use the domes.

Ban all blasters that shoot over 140 feet flat with domes. This will make gameplay safer

Eye protection should be required, anyone who plays without them, even adults, will not be allowed to play.

You should also post a thread for the war so more people can view it and it will be more orginized then the paragraph you have right now.

Just some advice.

EDIT, is this war still happening?

Just a heads-up don't be surprised in the slightest if you don't get anyone to show up to your war tomorrow. For anyone who cares, I'll be hosting another BANO in January, since I don't have the time this month, so it'd definitely be a good idea to attend if you've never hosted a war before, and need to learn the basics (which you DEFINITELY need to do.)
