Hello Nerf Warriors! I am a long time lurker, first time posting.

I am looking to schedule a fun Nerf war in Roseville California. I'm posting this to see who would be interested if I do plan it. Please leave a comment below saying if you are interested.

This is my first hosted war, so if any experienced Nerfers or hosts would like to help me plan the finer details please mention that.

There are several games I'd be interested in playing, depending on how many players we have:

Capture The Cones
Team Deathmatch
Free For All
Melee Foam Battle
Awful Battle (crappy guns FTW!)
Grifball (Nerf Foam Rugby, inspired by Halo)

Please let me know if you have any other game ideas, or which of those games you are most interested in.

Ideally, this will happen in November or December depending on weather. There is a large field near my house I have selected for the location. The fall-back location (in case of mud, etc) will be a park (Maidu Park) a couple blocks away. Specific rules will be outlined in the official event post after I get an idea when people are available.

Looking forward to hearing your opinions. Hoping for at least 10-15 attendees. This will be perfect for first-time nerf war players!

We would be interested in going if you host one but we're pretty busy though so I'm not sure we could make it. It would most likely work best for us during either Thanksgiving Break or Winter Break, but no promises. I'm wondering if you know what age group would most likely be attending and what restrictions on blasters/ammo you are planning on having.

If I remember correctly they only allow people 18 and older to play which unfortunately I am not 18 yet. It really sucks since I live in Davis and can't join the DUGG because I'm not old enough.

You can always come down to BANO wars, or SFSU games! (It's a bit of a drive, but it's definitely worth it.)We've got a war tomorrow, if you haven't already seen the thread BANO #2
Generally if there ARE wars in your area, and if there are people that attend the pre-existing wars in your relative area, who might be able to attend a war, it's generally a good idea to attend at least 1 before hosting your own. I'd personally be willing to make the trip, as long as it doesn't start super early in the morning (2 hour + drive)and you get to know the "local" nerfers.

AGE GROUP:
14 years old and over. I want people who are younger to experience it as well.

MODS/BLASTERS/AMMO:
Most forms of ammo, but DUH of course nothing sharp that would either bruise or bleed.
Modded guns are allowed, but no home-made guns.

I haven't been able to attend a war in the past year, lack of transportation or free time. Looking to attend one, too. My main goal for this event is to have fun and meet local nerfers which is exactly why I am arranging it. If there are any wars locally in the next few months (Sacramento area) I will try my best to join. Davis wars have been difficult because I don't have a car yet.

I'm aiming for winter break.

I'll message the UC davis nerf group to see if any are interested in joining.

Bummer there are not as many nerf wars in california : (

finally, I am new to nerf wars but NOT new to nerf. I've been modding my own weapons and having mini-wars with my friends in my back yard for over 5 years! I'm willing to help provide ammo for anyone who needs it. im dedicated

Most of the BANO guys run homemades, the BURN guys run OMW modded blasters from the N-Strike series and ELITE Series, and DUGG runs a mixture of both.

I don't think anyone NEEDS to go to a game before running they're own, but one needs to understand that organizing a nerf event takes time, understanding, and in some cases money.

Time to plan games, spot the right location, invent a rule set (that makes sense), understand how the dynamics of the games are going to work, figure out the types of blaster being used in order to see how it will effect the games, plan for shade and breaks, plan an ORP (objective rally point) where people can drop their stuff and set up for a game (hopefully the ORP isn't in the field of play), and if needed create props for game play (like flags, dog tags, cores, arm bands, etc.)

I'm sure there is more that I'm missing, but it isn't the same as just saying, "hey, lets play a nerf game!" It should be much more intricate then that.

Without going into an in depth Operations Order (OPORD), Anyone planning a nerf event needs to know the minimum: SITUATION (ie time, place, location, uniform (maybe), weather, etc), MISSION: what you are trying to do with this event? (meet new people, trial and error game types, test new blasters, improve a game type, just fool around, learn how to run a nerf event, etc), EXECUTION: What is your plan for running this nerf event? How are you going to run this nerf event? What are you going to do to make sure you nerf even is successful?, SERVICE AND SUPPORT: What are you going to need in order to run this event smoothly? (ie tables, chairs, flags, arm bands, cores, eye protection, sun block, food for lunch time, etc), and lastly COMMAND AND SIGNAL: How are you going to communicate your event towards the people you what to attend? What if people get lost on the way to your event? Are you going to give out your cell phone number? etc. Will there be team Captains? Random teams?

Simple things like this need to be thought out in order to make sure the event runs smoothly

If you have thought about these things prior and have established a basis for how the event is to be planned, then you have no need to see how a game is run. If you have no idea where to start, then I suggest going to a game and see how it is done. Take the good and improve upon the bad.

Exactly, and from most of your posts, it really just seems like you're doing this on-the-fly. I planned for about a month or two before I hosted my first BANO.
As for homemades being banned, that's silly, and there's no reason to do that. You can set regulations like that, and keep them like they are, without listening to anyone's suggestions of course, since it IS your war, but if you do that less people will be inclined to show up.

Generally a good age range is 13+, and if I was going to make the trip there and back, I'd probably bring along a few friends, at least one of which is 13.

Yeah sorry about the age limitation for dugg. We have a very interesting relationship with UC Davis. When we were not an official group we were kicked out of campus by some bike cops. After we became an official club things went well. Near the same time that we became a club humans vs zombies became a club. A few quarter later both moderator teams kinda just merged. And for some reason the cops love us... But now UC Davis is making sure age restrictions among a few others. I am pretty sure DUGG would love to join your game (depending on when it corresponds to midterms and other events). Feel free to message one of our moderators on the dugg page =)

Yes I will lower the age to 13yrs, and above. As for the weapons I will not allow snap guns, snap bows. I will allow any modded toy guns, like nerf, buzzby, airzone, and any particular brands that are modded,.Also I will allow titans. Any questions about guns, I will be more than happy to answer. In response to the event. I am not doing this on the fly. I am thinking about all areas of this event. Thats why I am waiting for some time to arrange this event. Yes when the time comes closer to this event, I will give my number out. The guns you will need are pistol, a awful gun that shoots fifteen feet or less. A primary and a secondary, and a melee weapon, nerf of some kind.I would like 10 or more people for this event.

Call me out, would have never responded to the thread if I had seen this earlier.

That's completely ludicrous and will definitely stop people from wanting to go to your war, considering the ever increasing popularity of homemades. I'm not in a good economic standpoint, and homemade blasters are a much more efficient use of my already lacking funds and time. I can easily make enough blasters for all my friends for 50 bucks and still have parts over. Few blasters are on the market anymore that are worth it to pick up and modify, if any.

I notice you have no specific ban of titans, also absurd. If you want to limit them to 3-barrel shotguns or rockets that's fine, but there should at least be a restriction on singled ones.

Don't take it personally, but I think you might want to let someone else organize this, it doesn't sound like you have much experience in the matter.

Hope you reconsider.

I agree with Righteous_Fondue, allowing titans while banning homemades is just ridiculous. I probably wouldn't be attending the war without homemades as those are the only decent blasters I own. That also begs the question of what counts as a "homemade" i.e. Tornado Bow, NF Rifle?

Also I'm not sure about the likelihood of me being able to go to a war in Roseville. If I(or another person) could host in Davis: Northstar Park would be an excellent place as it has a large open field. There is a small parking lot right next to the field that would be plenty large for us. We would need to figure out/make obstacles, but other than that it should work well. It also would probably work better for many DUGG members as they're closer.

We would need to figure out/make obstacles, but other than that it should work well. It also would probably work better for many DUGG members as they're closer.

Generally you want to avoid open fields, like you said you want obstacles; cover and/or trees, places to dodge darts. Or else you wind up threatening to shoot each other from just outside your range. I've been there and done that. The best wars I've been to, socal wars, were hosted at schools. Corners and corridors make things much more practical.

You should also join NREV and post this there if you want more people to show up. And singled titans shoot way too hard to be allowed at any wars. Snaps only shoot about 100 feet with slugs, and titans shoot 140 with slugs.

If you allow all Titans I'm definitely out. As much as I like getting welts from getting hit with a Nerf gun, I don't really wanna go against that. Also completely banning homemades? Not a great idea.

I've actually hosted around 4 wars with just some friends (maybe 15 people max) where we went to the Social Science Building on the UCD campus (aka Death Star) which is basically a concrete fortress perfect for lower range Nerf wars. Unfortunately some angry student threatened to call the cops if we hit anybody so just to play it safe we left. Even though we were there late Sunday afternoon attempting to avoid people.

Yeah I'm not saying it's impossible to nerf in a open field, I'm simply saying picking a park with natural cover would be the most rational thing to do before buying and assembling the parts to make mobstacles haha.

I do agree with your earlier statement, that roseville is a bit far. Sacramento or Davis would probably be better as it's closer for the majority of the interested parties.
