AFTER-ACTION REVIEW

Definition-

An AAR is a professional discussion of an event, focused on performance standards, that enables people to discover for themselves What happened, Why it happened and How to sustain strengths and improve on weaknesses. It is a tool hosts and players can use to get maximum benefit from every event or game.

Objective-

The objective of an AAR is to improve individual and collective task performance by providing immediate feedback about how the training or tasks could have been done better.

Observer: Blood Angel
Who Attended: Up to 16 players
When: 6 OCT 2012
Where: Battlefield Braly (675 Gail Ave. Sunnyvale, CA 94086)
AAR Type: Informal

- What was planned?
BURN Round 9 was planned to get an overall feel for the wingman game type with a large group of people. Also, trying out the aspect of a raffle to decrease event/maintenance costs.

- What actually occurred? (facts not judgments)
A large turn out made this an ideal even to test out my prototype weapon system: The Airow Gun Nerf convertion. Most of the players are return players and understood the rules, making game play smooth.

- What went well and why?
The flags worked well, as did the flag alarm system. CTF was well done.
The new cards worked well in the Assassin game.

- What can be improved and how?
There was a problem with finding the bomb once it was dropped in a new "bomb game" type. But it was determined to be a one time deal. More testing on the game type is needed to be sure.

Pictures from the last war, B.U.R.N 9: Big Nerf Little China are now up and can be viewed here:

Thanks for the great feedback Blood Angel!

We're really happy to hear that the props used for our games went over well. We're working on some new props, so expect to see more additions in the future.
