ROF! ROF!

I'm good at running people down at like 20 feet, and I need to have a backup shot, and besides, If you can't hit the broad side of a barn with a sawed off shotgun, RoF is all that will save you.

My x-bow mods:

1)Home depot had PVC with a much smoother inside than the stuff they had before. so i swapped that out.
2)cutt in half stock micros with light bbs inside for a bit extra weight.
3)reinforced plunger and case
4)tape on the rubber thing on the plunger to increase seal
5)bungee cord

90'= Very accepted
100'= Very believable
110'= Believable
120'= Convincable
130'+= Buh buh buh bullshit. Oh, I mean priceless.

It's not happening bud. Not with a spring gun. Not with and X-Bow. Not with a 1/2 PVC barrel. The seal on your plunger may add 5 feet at the most.

I'm sorry, I won't buy it when my SM5k won't shoot that far; flat or accurately. I can't bring myself to believe it.

Jesus, man, my farthest shooting gun is a Sm750 that gets 115'ish on eight pumps. Besides a completely redone Maxshot (as in, stronger spring, reinforced, etc.(which still may not peak 140')), there is no way in hell a stock gun, especially spring, can be modified to shoot that far.

Your ranges are bullshit.

Now, the reason why I added this poll was actually because I was choosing between an at3k and a sm1500, but it looks like seirus beat me to it. In any case,

1) You can get 150' if it's not flat, (duh) but unless you use a hammer/flint/gunpowder bullet, I'm afraid foam doesn't fly that far. The sm5k easily eats the xbow in range (being one of the best loser guns out there), and with an EXTENDED tank, you can achieve 150 feet flat. Even then, it's a toughy, and on the high end of the scale. However, because you're using (ompa and I call em "loser darts") part of a stock dart, so you have a little more air carry, you CAN gain an extra few feet. But not 30 feet.

2) It appears that more people would choose the at3k over the sm1500 on this poll, yet in seirus', most people picked the sm1500 ^_^ . To me, the sm1500 is like a mini loser, with 4 barrels. Not bad, but I'd rather lose a few feet and gain 2 shots.

3) Range and accuracy do not necessarily go hand in hand, though your common sense may make it seem so. A gun could blast a shot very far, but it'd be just that: a blast. For example, my NF shoots a good 70-80 feet, but it's not very accurate, whereas if I only pump my supermaxx1500 enough to get around 70-80 feet, it's still very accurate. (It still may not make sense....think about it.)

AA

EDIT:

ROF and accuracy are the only important ones.

I don't think I've ever disagreed with THIRST on this forum.

Im using stock micros out of the 1/2in pvc, not stefans. I dont care if you dont beleave me, I seriously get 150' out of it. Ive said this in other threads but i only get bashed now? I forgot to add I put a DT3 spring in it also. Id say my extra 50' comes from a mix of my bungee( wich pulls the plunger VERY hard), New PVC and stock micros. Say what you will.

AA, by range and acc. going hand in hand i meant, the more range you have the more accuracey youll want too.

Heres the first vote for size and comfort.

There is nothing like a good sized gun that justs sits right.

I think the poll was a bit a off, because generally i look for the best mixture of these factors, put together in one schweet package.

I also think that sheer power, noise and looks [or intimidation in general] is an incredibly high factor in the stakes.

AA, more people voted for the larami 1500 on seirus' poll since he said they had to be single barreled.

If you can keep their barrels and in a at3k vs sm1.5 or at2k, I would vote for the at2k since I have not had much luck with the 3k. However, I am sure if I mod a 3k in a way for it to be more reliable I would vote for it. Thirst used Pex barrels in it and it was very unreliable.

Gah he shouldn't have put the single barreled part, then. As far as singling goes, I'd of course use the sm1500 instead. Taita, I understand where you're coming from. And I like the big noise factor ;) .

Ninjz, so you're using MEGA darts? or the minis? The mega's fit nicely in the 1/2 pvc. sch40. What sch pvc are you using? I still don't believe the 150 feet though. There is just too much resistance when you're using foam. It's not perfectly smooth, so the little pockets catch air, thus reducing the flight speed and range. Also, unless you're tips are aerodynamically made, and you're a physics prof., (oh wait...REAL bullets are like that) that's going to be hard to make it go that far. It looks to me like you've upgraded several things, so I'm going to say that you probably have had an average of 100-110, several times over that amount, and you've had an OUTLIER of 150 feet. If you're still convinced, and you think we're being idiots, post a video and convince me.
My apologies if you're correct. Until then....

I know personally, at such high velocities as to be required by a 150' flat range, that a stock micro will catch the air and fall to the ground. (more wind resistance than momentum) X-bows are overrated, big time.

And isn't a DT3 spring weaker than an x-bow spring?

Im using micros, not megas. I added extra weight to the micros to compensate. DT3 spring is better.

Here is a gun that could achieve 150 feet ranges. But note, that it is an EXTENDED airtank on one of the best single-barreled guns out there: sm5000.
AA

P.S. That means that he uses more than 4-5 pumps to achieve that range....

In all of my guns I like to have an acceptable range and a high ROF, but I voted for ROF because I look for that first in a gun. I don't like PCs or RF20s because of the sacrifice of range for fire power. I perfer AT2ks, At3ks, blastfires, and any other mid range rotater gun like that or similar. Any chance I get I'll slap an sspb on a gun so most of my weapons have at least a second shot ready. I don't really depend on range that much, so any weapon that will fire 60 ft flat is okay with me, as I'll only be fighting at half that range.

I can't wait for that mad hornet type gun in the fall. Finally a BF remake!

Sane I'm with you all the way! I enjoy the ROF, but the range on the really high ROF guns is atrocious... I love the at3k and such because of their great mix of ROF and range. I'm really looking forwards to that hornet as well!

This one gets about double the flat distance of a PC. It's reasonably accurate to 50-60' and can reach 75-80' flat pretty easily.

My BF has Sch 80 pvc barrels and gets about 50-60 ft. I would probably get more if I used brass, but unfortunately I don't have very easy access to any in my area. My PC only shot about 30 or 40 feet before it broke.

Eh my PC is crap too... 30-40 feet is about what I'm getting. My BF is getting like 70, but it's using brass barrels- oh what a wonderful material; albeit expensive. Sane have you considered ordering PETG from IronRhino?

I ordered a sample of some petg from visipak, but it was the thin walled kind and I don't want to get the thick walled free sample because I feel like I'm taking advantage of them. Then again, I don't want to order a lot of petg from ironrhino for fear that it won't fit. If he could send me like a 1" sample that would be nice.

Ugliness doesn't mean shite. Like me for example. I make children cry, but my team for airsoft has succesfully beaten enemy squads twice our size. All because we know what we're doing. Strategy, training, and unstoppable firpower are the keys to victory.
