So, I modded up this stampede over the summer (4 trustfire batteries, OMW spring, AR removal, electronic lock removal, swarmfire integration, etc). It was working great except for occasional runaway issue where it would fire really fast without shooting any darts (only with 4 trustfires, 3 didn't have the issue). So I tied to fix this (regrease, loosen plunger seal a little bit, not crank the screws on so hard), and something went wrong somewhere along the line. I put the gun back together and it worked great for several clips then it all went to hell.

Now for some reason, the darts are getting stuck in the barrel. It seems the dart block is not opening properly, and closes on the dart as it passes through. If I hold it open and shove the dart in it will fire fine. Guess it's either firing too late or closing too soon. Also, the runaway problem is back and happens with 4 or 3 trustfires in. I've been going over it for hours now, everything seems to cycle fine and is in place. The only thing I changed was to remove one of the electrical pressure switches that activates when a magazine in inserted (I had removed all others except these two, I still have one in).

Any idea on what could have gone wrong? Nothing is cracked or broken that I can see.

Your runaway problem may be fixed by following SGNerf's guide Here
As for the dart tooth problem, I have also wondered how to fix that as it's happened to me a few times.

Ya, I went over that guide and even tried replacing the springs with stronger ones from pens. No luck. Ran it by SGnerf on his forums (he's the one who told me about not tightening the screws too much), but figured I'd try here as well.

Here's a video of the problem if that helps anyone (Ignore the mag stuck halfway in, it's just to hold the electric lock down (and I realize now is why the trigger wasn't working) because I had to record with my ipad in the other hand.):

From your short video, it sounds like the plunger is not catching then firing.
I don't hear the crack or thud as the plunger is released.

Check that the square catch at the back of the plunger has been put in the correct way.

actually you can see the catch at the end of the video, it looks like it isn't releasing
check to make sure that the catch is functioning properly

Yeah... at the last part of video when it was firing from 0:58 onwards, i also noticed the plunger rod isn't moving or releasing at all too.

Looks like either your blaster's catch plate spring popped out or somehow got stuck.

Your voltage might be too high, since it works fine with 3 Trustfires and not 4. Your catch spring could also be too weak to hold the OMW spring, and with a high voltage the gears could be spinning so fast that it cycles twice.

Well, I checked and replaced the catch spring and it still happens. It is firing fine, just not opening the dart stop up in time. I can shove the dart in and hold the dart stop open, and it fires the dart just fine.

did you modify the front of the breech in any way, or did it break/get damaged by the faster cycling?

(this may sound weird, but the dart teeth/doors on other blasters are interchangeable, see if you can switch out the entire assembly for the tooth in a Recon, or the door in the Retaliator. just as a test, see if that fixes the issue)

I may have diagnosed it! Followed my initial instinct and gutted the thing to he gearbox. The gears themselves seemed fine, but somehow the gearbox itself had shifted. It was bent open about 5mm around the seam, so I pulled it apart, reseated everything, and it closed up nicely. Fired great for a few shots, but now the problem is back. Gotta run now, but looks like a gear/gearbox problem (I'll see later if it opened back up). Guess I just need to find another stampede and try swapping the gearboxes.

~apologies for replying to an older thread~

I have had the exact same thing happen to 3 Stampedes of mine and i believe it could be from a portion of the shell wearing out.

I tested this by replacing all internals with new internals without the problem going away. After putting the internals from the broken Stampede into a new shell suddenly it works fine again.

I still have not been able to fix the other shells so its onl a matter of time until the problem develops with all my stampedes.

HAS ANYONE FOUND THE TRUE CURE?  my guess is a part of the shell needs to be reinforced somewhere.

replies would be very very appreciated!
