On Aug. 9th I purchased my Retaliator, I really wanted the long shot, but the place didn't have it.
I was still very happy with it

Posted Image

30 mins after I got home and shot off a few rounds, I took it apart.

-Removed the AR (completely, no inner slider remained)

-added a spring from a double shot, + 1/4 of the original spring. It worked great, didn't even have to remove the bolt locks, but than I removed them anyway to avoid dry fire.

-added delay to the dart loader (so the darts get pushed deeper into the barrel)
which made the top slider a lil loose with the laser sight on, the top would easily slide back and forth when the blaster was cocked, but only when it was empty

Pros; it was shooting great ! had a lot more power to it.
might have had increased accuracy!
Cons; it jammed about 15 shots or so, then again the clip springs wore in and it mostly went away.

Didn't get to enjoy it much in its original(ish) form, because one dumb idea lead to an other, I found a nice 11Kg spring that was too big... so I trimmed material.
It DID NOT work, so I just added the old doubleshot springs back.

I think the trimming of the plastic caused misalignment and this is what happaned;

Oh well, should have known better, I'm obviously new to Nerf Guns.

But this mistake= CHALLENGE ACCEPTED

I just have 1 question;

How do I remove the orange end from the tank?

Posted Image

I was just gonna put it in warm water, than dump it in ice water and hope the adhesive gives out.

any other suggestions?

I'll keep posting progress photos.

Here is what I'm planning so far;
- moving the spring back further with added PVC
- lining a new things with brass.

1st I need to remove that orange stopper from the tank, so I can start making a new piston

hi, just so you know the 'tank' we call the plunger tube (unless it works by storing air and releasing it through a valve) and the 'piston' we call the plunger head,an that orange cap is melted on their pretty good, instead of removing it, and possibly warping your pt in the process, I would advise that you carefully shave away the inside edge until it is pretty close to the diameter of the plunger tube, this way you will not get any setting problems and the plunger will slide out easily.

Nice pictures. As far as I know, the Longshot has been discontinued: http://en.wikipedia....e#Longshot_CS-6

"As of 2010, the Longshot is no longer in production and is now a rarity in stores, following the release of its replacement, the Longstrike CS-6."

You can still find the Longshot in some stores, it's just a matter of who still has them in stock.

Nice pictures, but I'd appreciate it if you could improve your grammar and spelling.

It appears you're addressing two different people with that post, as the person concerned with the longshot and with the great pictures also has great post quality.

Unlike you.

The Longshot is also not discontinued; I've seen it still in stock in some retail locations.

You can use boiling water to break the seal, and ultimately remove the cap.

I have used this for a while now, and it works great. Whenever, I need to undo a glue up, I reach for it. The small bottle will also, last a long time.

When I had to open a 3k tank, I used a micro torch to melt the glue, then just pulled the back off. I belive the same method could be used here. I think we would all appreciate it if you posted how you end up getting it apart, for future reference. Good luck!

just did a look around at the nerf website and no longshot, no longshot=discontinued:P if you knew anything about logistics you'd know stores have warehouses that store product. most likely those stores had some left over in thier stock or were just not selling everything as soon as they get it.

Looks like I was wrong and confused overstock with continued production.

That is not an excuse for you to have uncharacteristically awful post quality though.
