My brothers 2k gave me a scar on my arm. It isnt going away. Thats pretty cool Kat, but alot of people have taken modding past duct tape and rubber bands, theres just less topics about them. Kat, thats a cool business. A nerf resale business! Im curious, did you start that because you wanted to sell nerf guns, or because you became aware of the NIC?

Meh, resale is okay, but we've gotten past cleaning up and fixing old guns. There's only so much you can do with crappy guns. 70% of Nerfguns really aren't that good, even when you clear out anything restricting airflow, or put a new spring in, or replace the o-rings and seals... We've done it for about 2 years now and it's time to move on to manufacturing our own out of metal components and high grade resin.
The reason we started doing this was because of the growing demand at Universites in the state for nerf. As some of you know, airsoft and paintball guns are outlawed on University campuses. Also, it's illegal to use them within city limits of some cities. High powered nerf is the perfect legal alternative to these.
In the dorms all over the country, there's a game played with Nerf called "Assassins". The rules change from school to school, but the core of it is pretty much the same. Everyone playing writes their name on a piece of paper. All the names go into a big box and get mixed up. Each player is then given a name, the name of the person they are supposed to assassinate. When you kill that player, you get the name they have, and any names they have from their kills. The one with all the names at the end wins.
When I was living in the dorms in 99, you could still go to any Wal Mart or Kay Bee and pick up some pretty decent guns for it cheap. A couple years ago when my friend started playing, and also playing the LARP variant, guns were starting to get much harder to find. So we did what we could to be the "arms dealers" for a couple schools, buying, repairing, modding, and basically studying the mechanics of every gun we came in contact with.
Between the two of us, we've seen enough guns to understand the mechanics and design of just about every gun, and determine how easy it would be to replicate the internals. My friend is an ex-mechanical engineering major, and during those years worked extensively on nerf guns. I studied prototyping and design and now work with with various grades of plastics, resins, silicones, and urethanes. These guns are going to work good, look good, feel good, and hopefully be able to withstand some heavy usage. Ergonomically, we're still working on designing a shell for the internals of the rifle, but the first thing I'm putting our high powered handgun in is a Namco Guncon shell. I love that thing. After that, heh, anyone seen Gungrave?
And as for blueprints, there's really not much to the rifle. Only 5 moving parts, I believe. Mine is more complicated, but since I can fabricate my own parts out of industrial grade resin, I can improve on exisiting designs and make an awesome gun out of one of Nerf's Failed Attempts.
Oh, and we will also be making more clips for people who play with Powerclips. I'm sure some of you have already modded your Powerclips to have removable clips. We're making more, so you can carry 3 or 4 on you and slap a fresh one in.
