I think we need to encourage people on other nerf sites to join Nerfhaven. It's really not going anywhere , no one has posted for 4 days.

I agree with Spoon. Even if it is a little slow, give it some time, it came out 2 months ago for god's sake.

You're new to Nerf, or at least that's what I've seen, and these boards are nowhere near as busy as NHQ's, but I think we have more quality posts here, that's just my opinion. What do you want, quality or quantity?

Our members have made a total of 2319 posts
We have 147 registered members
The newest member is Jcizcomin
Most users ever online was 59 on Jan 13 2003, 08:01 AM

2319 posts in about 2 and a half months. I doubt there were ever 4 days in which nobody posted.

From the logs...

Average unique visitors per day:
March: 250
Feb: 202
Jan: 152

At our current rate of growth we should be up to old-skool-NO traffic levels before our first birthday.

In the last three days I've approved 9 new members.

That said, have you even looked at the rest of this site? There's more to it than the forums and everything on NH is the best you'll find anywhere. You have made 3 relatively useless posts so if you want this site to grow faster than it already is, why don't you contribute something intelligent?

yeah, i find that with both nerfhq and nerfcenter i have to cycle through eight to ten "WHAOH WHAOH HELPZ PLEEZ NEEEZ SNIPOR GUNZ!!!" or "I JUST FOUND THIS NEW GUN> THE AT2K, HOW DO I MODZ IT!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?" before i find one post worth reading or replying to. i asked one of the admins at NHQ if there was anyway to highlight quality posts, but he said it wasn't possible, and i should 'just deal like the rest of us'. this is the reason i don't to those sites very often. and, the reason i like this site so much is because i don't have to do that. the biggest differences are that here: there was content before forums, and there are a smaller number of people, and a good percent of that smaller number are people who were asked to be part of the beta test, because they were contributing members of the old forums.

I don't know...I DO like cheese...

He he, a lot of people have told me, and I'm sure Cxwq and Spoon have heard their share too, that they love the small atmostphere of this site. They beg me to keep it small and comfortable for reasons of quality. I tell them all the same thing, fuck no. I too love the atmosphere of NH but small and selective is not the vision I had for this site, and I don't think it's one cqwq shares either. I mean, where's the challenge in that? We want this thing to be as big as we can get it; we love fucking recognition. Ya' see we think that we can do this and maintain the high quality of this site, and THAT will be our trademark. The Karma system is obviously one means of achieving this, but the other is just pure attitude. If we demand intelligence and a certain level of maturity (well maybe that isn't the right word), and simply do not provide any outlet or reinforcement for stupidity than we can keep this site a great deal like you see it now. Besides, Spoon think about the listserve. Running a tight ship is my speacialty, even though I may be a kinder gentler Vacc.

I'd have to go with the over all idea that this place is much nicer. Better posts, grammar, and a higher level of thinking mark this place out from the rest.

Despite the fact that I spend much more time here than NHQ, the vast majority of my posts at NHQ seem to be devoted to telling people how stupid they are. On NH there are (a) fewer idiots, and (b) more people with a clue who are unafraid to speak their mind.

I fucking love it.

Nice touch, cxwq.

Anyways, there are a lot more intelligent Nerfers here, and I do like the small community. NC is really slow right now, and on NHQ I can post something and come back an hour later and there will be 20 new replies, most of which aren't worth reading.

But NH won't stay this size forever. NC is the biggest forum, and this is how it started. In two years there will probably be thousands of members on this site. Just look at the bright side: by that time we'll all be vets that can own those n00bs.

The funny thing is, to the best of my recollection so far, you aren't considered one of the stellar members of NHQ. Every post I see by you is either in Off-Topic or includes something about ebay or Hasbro. Now I'm basing that completely on observed posts and scanning through the first few pages of your recent posts. I would also say that you do post quite a bit on NHQ as far as I have seen. You have every right to call me a misinformed idiot, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Just an observation from someone who's opinion doesn't really matter ;) .

As far as this site goes, I view it all the time. I enjoy reading intelligent posts by nerfers and the general antics that sometimes emerge from the members here. It is much quieter than the bustling NHQ and the members for the most part are better informed, and most importantly can construct a coherent sentence. I'm hoping to post here a little more often if my free time allows.

..... and the fact that he's up to 20 posts in less than a week doesn't really reaffirm any notion of quality over quantity. Same for that Blackblade dude.... I'm watchin him.... I mean 30-somethin posts in a few days is a high indication of a lack of life.

DAMMIT!! WHY CAN'T I SAY NICE THINGS WHEN I POST?? ..... I forsee some sort of fight coming out of this.

I do post a lot on NHQ, I'm not afraid to admit it. Shindig, it's a great site, and the forums are entertaining. When I said, "Most of them aren't even worth reading" I meant that some topics are just really stupid. I mean, there's one on there right now that's about exploding flour. And only 16% of my threads are in Off-Topic.

At least my threads aren't that dumb. And about me posting too much here at NerfHaven, I've been a member for nine days, guys. 22 posts, a little more than 2 posts a day. I speak my opinion when I want to.

So lay off.

Like C or VACC said, it won't stay this size forever. But, like [whoever] said, The trademark will lots of user and quality. I'm all for expanding, as long as Joe shmoe, who doesn't know he has a shift key, but can use that Caps lock, is allowed to write "NEED cROSSBOW!!!!" all over. I'm glad Cxwq is taking the time to filter the users. And guys, please feel free to whip out the banhammer or warn people if they are being dumbasses. I'm not a very experienced Nerfer, so I just shut up if I don't what I'm talking about. I don't have many posts, I'm not very well known, but if I speak, I know my shit.

Once,, just once, when I was a total n00b to all forums, I posted one of those crappy "Need Crossbow" threads. Then I realized the obvious answer:

Who the fuck is going to give one up?

Now it annoys me when people do that. I really like what Groove said at the end of his comic. I think it was "We Need This" strip.

amen to that.

blackblade, you have been on this site for 4 days, and you have 45 posts. there are maybe 2 worth reading. about half of them can be answered using the different sections of this site alone. mrgrinch and jrbill2006 have been doing the same, but not quite up at the same rate. i am sure all three of you have great things to say, but seriously, chill out. you three are the reason i almost edited my comment about not having to filter through complete 'crap for posts' on this site. please look around for the answer before you put 4 topics in the same forum, and are the sole owner of all 6 replies in each (i know that is an exaggeration). if the kharma system were here, my browser wouldn't even let me look at your posts.

Well, just try to chill out a little. By no means are we against high post-counts, but we generally try to follow one basic rule: if you've nothing constructive or amusing to say, don't bother posting. I find that following this simple rule will cause people to actually read and consider what one writes.
