As the title says, I need something that will seal in 2 inch pvc, as the 2 1/4" washer I tried created horrid amounts of friction.I also have to be able to attach it to an up-sized superlative plunger head, if it makes any difference.

Did you lube the PT? That helped immensely on a 1 1/4" PVC PT for me. I believe there is some debate about what type of lube to use- white lithium or silicone grease- but as long as there is no petroleum in the grease itself you're probably fine.

Alternatively, try cutting a tiny bit off of the edge of the washer, getting it absolutely perfectly round shouldn't matter if it's still in contact with the PT all over.

If neither of those work, the old-school O-ring or E-tape seals might be fine as a work around until someone comes up with something they've tried on that size PVC.

U-cups work pretty well if you want to order from McMaster (9691K62). You need increase the OD by fitting it over something larger which will stretch it out to the size of 2" PVC, which is slightly larger than actual 2". I usually wrap some electrical tape underneath it, which works. Not sure if any of this will work with whatever you're planning on using as your plunger head.

There's a Drain seal at HD that fits 2 inch PVC really well. I'll update with the product number in a bit for you.

Yup, this works fine. I used a large fender washer on the Big SNAP, and used the OD of the plunger tube as a guide to trim it down. It doesn't need to be perfectly round. The biggest challenge was connecting and centering the washer on the plunger tube, as large fender washers tend to have center holes with rather large IDs.

Meaker: Yes, I covered the washer in White Lithium Grease, but it didn't help much. I'll try trimming the washer.
Ryan: I would like to try the cup,but how would I attach the cup to the plunger head?
Proplus: Are you sure this part would work? Mcmaster says the OD is 2 and 3/8", which is even larger then the washer I used.

I have been able to use 2" thinwall as a plunger tube extension for the Reactors. Most of the other similar ballguns should work with that size as well, so you should be able to use those u-cup seals for your project. If you don't have one you can use, I think that I have one I could send you.

As for washer you already have, how thick is it?

I'm not sure what you're using as a plunger head, but I normally use just this stuff (8745K21). It's oversized so you usually don't even need e-tape under the seal to stretch it out. The ID is slightly undersized as well, but you can usually drill it out with a 5/8" drill bit so you can pass through CPVC, or whatever 5/8" material you may want to use as your plunger rod.

That is too expensive and too large.

As for washer you already have, how thick is it?

The washer I have was 1/8" thick, as my Ace didn't have 1/16". I took another trip to Ace today and got a 1/16" rubber sheet and traced over it. That way I can adjust the ID and OD easily. Thanks for the help everyone!
