I was fortunate enough to stumble upon the new BuzzBee Rangemaster, NIB at Goodwill! For two dollars how could I pass it up. I noticed when I arrived home to see that it required to be pumped in order to achieve the advertised 60ft ranges. Right away I noticed that it could achieve said ranges easily. This blaster is worth the full 18$ advertised at Target. Also it accepts and kind of dart, except streamlines.

The shell is very comfortable, and I think aesthetically pleasing. The accessories are detachable, and asides from the faux barrel, actually useful.

So lets crack her open. You will have to attempt to remove the orange cap at the end, I just cracked it open when I opened the whole shell.
Posted Image
It utilizes a unique trigger system and what appears to be a back pressure tank. The tank and bolt are all on piece. The blaster is pumped by sliding the bolt back as you load the gun, you do have to pull it back multiple times though.

This is a pic of the internals with the bolt all the way back

Here is the trigger being pulled with no tank in it. It pulls a lever to push the button on the tank.

The ARs are pretty heavy on this blaster.
Posted Image
Lets get rid of them! But be very careful. DO NOT DRILL THEM OUT! If it is done incorrectly it will permanently ruin your blaster. Use needle nose pliers instead. It is frustrating at first, but it is better.

^ that is a pic of what it looks like without ARs, the pics were crappy so I highlighted some things. The white dot appears to be part of a checkvalve, and the green is just flat plastic.
Also the pump desperately needs to be plugged (not shown.)
With the ARs removed and pump plugged (only pump 4 or 5 times) you will obtain ranges in the high 70s and low 80s (stock darts)
A rebarrel will probably boost it up to 100ft with stefans.
Heres the results of range testing with nerf taggers

Stock: ARs removed and Pump plugged:
55' 76'
61' 78'
62' 83'
58' 80'
61' 79'
57' 82'

The tank is bigger than an at3k and smaller than a Big Blast. In terms of diameter, its close to 3/4" pvc.

Do you pump it by cycling the bolt multiple times before loading the dart in? Also, I must say that I am relieved that this blaster does not use shells as those are a royal pain.

All my questions were answered either while I was typing this, or in the video that I found in the Mods/PJ thread.

I could see this being way better with a replaced pump if the tank is larger than a 3K. I think it's an awesome design where the pump tube and tank move rather than the pump. If we could get this to hit 100s with a hopper then it'd make a great umb replacement.

Nice write up ! I picked one up at toy kingdom while on vacation, pretty nice. I think a little segment of 17/32 brass into the barrel and it will boost up your range. Question answered on the box.

It's not a Nerf gun!

So, it doesn't mean it is impossible for it to be compatible with Nerf accessories.

I just recently picked up one of these today at my local Target and have a quick question. Following your guide (thanks btw), I just snapped off the AR peg at the base using needle nose and a flat head.

Is this sufficient or do I need to remove more a bit further down? Quick testing seems like I'm good to go although wanted to verify before completely closing her up.

Yes, I believe that that is all that you can do AR-wise, but it is the plugged pump, any seal improvements (if there need to be any), and either a rebarrel or jamming some brass into the barrel that will really boost your ranges. In my Buzz Bee blasters, I have found that just taking the AR peg out does not really help improve ranges much, if at all.

I actually picked up another and snapped off the AR peg closer to the base using a flat head again. It seemed to boost the ranges of the stock darts about 10 ft. Drop starts to occur when shooting flat at about the 35-40ft mark (I'm 6ft). I'd like to install a breech although will take a bit of planning if I want to retain the stock pump configuration which I honestly don't mind. I have yet to plug the pump and am hitting right around 50ft flat. May do that to see how well the ranges increase.

Overall, great blaster and well worth the money.

Stupid question alert. The OP said streamlines are not compatible. Does this include elite darts? I would like to think not because of the core, but could someone affirm this for me?

Elite darts are compatible with the stock range master, though the darts it came with (EXTREMELY DENSE) actually work better, and are more accurate.

I would recommend only using the included darts and the elite darts (once the AR has been removed), as they are the only ones strong enough to withstand the output of the blaster.

Also, on a side note, the scope does increase range a small amount, but the angle is not so sharp that it hurts vertical aim (I found myself aiming higher just to hit the target 20 feet away); also, the faux barrel does not decrease range, PERIOD.

Pretty much any airgun can be boosted to be too powerful to shoot a person with. Make the tank bigger, and add a larger pump to fill the larger tank faster. The more air it puts out the longer the barrel you will need.

Here's what I did to mine:

With this mod, I can *theoretically* get ranges of about 70-100', with 100' being partly due to dart skip. I say theorectically, because it isn't actually sealing the two halves together in any way, but when I held the length of CPVC to the stock barrel, those were the ranges I got.
