I have made a Mad Ghost and am having trouble with the trigger. The trigger releases all the air only allowing for one shot. The way the trigger is supposed to work has the gun being able to fire multiple shots without re-pumping, but mine is not. Any help would be appreciated.

I will also add pictures when I can, possibly later today, this should help illustrate my problem.

  • DO NOT Double post. Use the edit button if you need to add something, instead of posting twice in a row in the same thread.
  • Posts that lack photos when photos are expected, and posts with poor quality or bad grammar will not be excused because you are posting from a phone or other unusual device.

I know the second one doesn't apply directly, but the core concept is the same: If photos are really important, don't make a post until you have the photos ready. Please remember this in the future and read the New Members Guide before you post again.

The model of Mad Ghost 3DBBQ posted on NerfHaven only does single shots, its not semi-automatic so your blaster is working fine if you followed his writeup.

As has been mentioned repeatedly here, this blaster is only single-shot. However, I have seen his semi-auto blaster, and the mechanism is really quite simple. There is a large reserve tank, and a smaller firing tank. The large reserve tank is linked to the smaller firing tank by a small hole, and the dump valve (the trigger) is connected to the smaller firing tank. When fired, the smaller firing tank is quickly "emptied" (depressurized) through the wide path afforded by the dump valve. Air flows from the larger reserve tank to the smaller firing tank whenever the smaller firing tank has lower pressure than the larger reserve tank. This includes the time during which the trigger is depressed, and if the trigger is held down for a while, it will empty both tanks in one shot. However, since the air flows relatively slowly from reserve tank to firing tank, not much air is lost during a normal, quick trigger pull.

There is a tradeoff in hole size between how fast the firing tank is repressurized, and how much air is lost through the trigger, and I don't have the experience to tell you what size hole (or hose, or whatever) you should use. 3DBBQ used a manual (ball?) valve for his "small hole", and simply left it mostly closed to create an effectively adjustable hole size.

Thank you Langley I will make sure to do so accordingly the next time I post.

Going off what Kane said, the hole between the firing tank and the reserve tank is 1/16" on the newer semi-auto JSPB's.

Kane's description is correct. The Mad Ghost is actually sort of a simplified version of his earlier blasters, and is single-shot only. The semiauto blasters he has built use two tanks with an orifice between them that severely limits flow.

Beaver's post claiming Kane's post claiming Demon Lord's post is correct is correct is correct.

There's a hole between the two tanks. Not in your version though.

I guess you may have confused the Mad Ghost design with the Dyne V6 design by 3DBBQ.

As what others have posted, the Mad Ghost is a single shot blaster... to get "semi-auto" firing capability, you need to use the Dyne V6 design, which has a ball valve positioned before the trigger valve to act as an air flow adjustment and secondary air tank section.

Here is an example which i made based on the Dyne V6 design (3DBBQ's version uses a ball valve with a small removable metal handle, so some modders might miss it... the ball valve i used is abit more obvious, it has a bright red tuning handle):

3DBBQ also posted up a video of how the Dyne V6 "semi-auto" function works too:

You can read up on more discussions about the system in these links:

Hope that helps! :)

It appears that I need to step up my studying of these guns before making them, to prevent any issues that could have easily prevented. Thank you all for the help.
