Pretty self-explanatory. I can't post in the Trading forum at all (reasonable, for the most part), which means I can't post in the Awareness thread (not so reasonable). Actually, I can't even read the Awareness thread (or Trading at all), even if I log out! Was this considered when the decisions to move the thread and not allow newbies into Trading were made? Probably not, because New Users: READ THIS FIRST says that new members should post in Awareness:

Anyway, here's what I would have posted.

See, I didn't even know that, because:

Which means the new members' guide is even more out of date.

Edit: Hold on, I can see the new thread, though I still can't post in it. New members' guide still needs to be updated, though, though it's a quite recent development.
Further edit: I can read the Trading forum now. I didn't see it in the index earlier and thought I wasn't allowed to even read it. Not being able to post in the new thread might still be a problem, though my post wouldn't fit there anyway.

Like you said, that sort of post does not belong in the new thread, and the old thread was closed. FNGs are not permitted to post in the Trading forum, and you must log in to NerfHaven to read it. This is to prevent people who don't have any interest in nerfing or contributing from joining just to use the Trading forum.

I've updated the New Members Guide to reflect these changes, which were fairly recent.
