I was going to modify a longstrike but there seems to be glue around the front area of the blaster stopping me from opening it up.  Specifically it appears that the case is stuck right under the yellow decal near the end of the blaster.  This would be the 4th Longstrike I have modified but only one other had glue and it was just a small dab on the front sling attachment ring.  I have tried to pry this with a large number of tools and even with nearly my full strength I cannot get this blaster open.  There is DEFINITELY no screws in the blaster...the area stuck is not near any screws.  Does anyone have a way to tackle the glue that nerf seems to be putting on more and more blasters to hinder modifications?  I am really dumbfounded as to how this glue is not cracking, I literally cannot put a finger under the front part of the case because the glue is holding onto the case so tightly!

Edits:

To clarify, the glue is far inside the blaster, trying to pry the blaster apart is making the sides that I try to gain leverage on bend to a nearly unacceptable degree.  See the guide posted below for an exact location of where the glue is.

I am going to bring over the person who owns the Nerf blaster so that we can both grab a side evenly and then really try to pull it apart, hopefully this will work.

Is there any way that you could fit the front end of it in boiling water? If so, that could work. I know you stated that you could not pry it, but if you started in an area that you could fit a flat head into, and worked your way towards it, that could work as well.

I am unsure if you mean inside the shell is stuck, or along the outside. Having said that, cut through it with a hobby knife if its the outside, or a longer one if its inside the shell.

I'm afraid I cannot obtain boiling water, and I have carefully pried the entire front end evenly before.  I believe that the glue is inside one of the posts that guide the barrel inside the gun, which means that it is not a flat part that is glued, it is very much in the center of the area in front of the chamber, I have tried "attacking" the area I believe was glued by poking it with a pocket knife, but this thing will not give an INCH.  Ty for your suggestions though!

I've dealt with this exact situation before. The housing for the dart tooth/beginning of the faux barrel is solvent welded to the shell in the little grooves where it fits into the shell. I would say just figure that exact spot out, and drill/dremel it through from the outside. It may not be pretty, but it'll be the easiest way. I'll try to get pics up tomorrow.

The glued spot (only about 3/8" x 1/4") is somewhere near that red x. Hopefully I'll get pics of the inside.

My longstrike came from someone dumb who tried to mod it, and when he tried to solve this problem by brute force he ripped the shell in half. so don't do that.

I made a write-up (here) and addressed this problem.
The receiver is actually glued to the shell.
Just keep carefully pulling till it pops off.

I had the exact same problem opening mine, I just used two flathead screwdrivers and prised the shell open from both sides.

I didn't realize that they started gluing the internal pieces... that is rather unfortunate. Dumping boiling water inside the shell is a sure way to mess things up as it will pool and melt things; not to mention how dangerous it can be due to how uncontrolled it is. A hobby knife would work great from the outside but for an internal part it will do nothing. Prying with screw drivers puts much more pressure on the outside edges of the shell than the inside glued part, which makes having the shell break before the glue pops likely. The pic in Pause's writeup looks like minimal amounts of glue and he was probably just lucky. I would try freezing the blaster for an hour or so then try just pulling the thing apart with your hands... not sure how well it would work, but I've removed globs of hotglue cleanly this way.

Also, do not put your blaster parts into the microwve in the hope of melting the glue.
The glue will expand and crack and distort the components been held togeather.
I tried this when attempting to remove barrels from the turret.
