Hello fellow nerfers,
I am a relatively new nerfer and this is my first post on NerfHaven.
I apologize if this question has been answered already, but I need to know how long an optimal Titan barrel for a good combination of range and accuracy would be. I have removed the grate-like thing on the end of the missile barrel and glued a coupler there. However, I have not opened it up so I have not done any internal modifications such as plugging the pump. I plan to use my slugs by the way.
Current results are as follows:
12” barrel

Slugs: 120 ft. flat with good accuracy
Stock Streamlines: 150 ft. flat with no accuracy

18” barrel
Slugs: 130 ft. flat with good accuracy
Stock Streamlines: Flies 150 feet, then spirals off

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Titans are almost universally banned from being singled, barring any use of oversized stefans or missiles. In any war, you have to have it shotgunned (firing at least 3 barrels, not 3 darts in one barrel). So being used like this is for kicks only, NOT for firing at people.

That being said, this is really just an experimentation question; since almost no two people's modified blasters are the exact same, you have to figure it out for yourself. Take a barrel, test, chop off an inch, test, etc.

Finally, you just glued a coupler at the end of the stock barrel? A coupler at the tank would be much more efficient and cut out the dead space. That way, you're shooting close to 200', given best barrels, good darts, etc.

Have fun, but be safe.

First off, thank you for your suggestions. I don't fire powerful nerf guns at people from close distances.

Which grate did you remove? The one on the end of the missile attachment? If so, unscrew it the attachment and remove the grate on the orange nub.

I've seen up to 2ft barrels before so its all testing like buff said. And like they said singled are banned. Your best bet is just put the rocket attchment back on it and use it like that. You should hit draconis up for some rockets since they look amazing and will make the titan much more effective.

Evilbunnyo: I'd like it to have the ability to fire darts AND missiles, so I will not permanently remove the missile barrel.

I am working on screw-on barrels for another project (look at the rockets thread in this forum) and I had planned on offering an adapter to a more universal pipe diameter at some point as well. I know it isn't exactly what you are asking for here, but I hope it can help in the future.

I tried glueing the coupler right at the tank, but the ranges are still the same. Do you have an explanation for this?

I assume you're still using the same barrels? You need them much longer.

For reference: Titan tanks are ~320ml and go to about 35 psi.

For an 18" CPVC barrel, a liberal estimate of the barrel volume is 58 ml. That's a TON of difference, as there's still pressure that could push the dart out. Your barrel is too short, and the dart is leaving way before the force behind it runs out.

At the very base. ALWAYS. It allows the air to accelerate the dart, otherwise a long barrel is just deadspace (room to expand and depressurize). This is the same basic idea for literally ALL barrels. The more air volume you have, the longer the barrel you want.

Long barrels is a relative term. Titans can happily use barrels a few feet long. 2 feet is still far too short for me, try 3 or even 4. Like Buff said, Titans have a shitload of volume and at ~30PSI they are seldom satisfied. Dart weight could also be a factor, try using three washers instead of one. That would add some exposed metal, but you're not shooting people anyway.
