[Taishaku]

So I bought a OSH #49U (equivalent to an ACE #49), and I installed it in my RSCBed Nitefinder. When I fire it, some of the shots fly much higher than intended.

For reference, I am using felt-tipped slugs and my barrel is 2 inches.

Can anyone explain to me what is happening and/or suggest a solution?

You are likely experiencing a little kickback, common with TTGs and powerful springer pistols. The shear power of the spring is jerking the blaster back in your hand a tad (angling it slightly) thus resulting in a higher shot.

Or your darts are inconsistent...

Your barrel is way too short. Try 5 or 6 inches.

I don't think that is a inappropriate barrel length for a Clipped Pistol.

I don't see why Ozymandias crossed out his post, but that is actually what I was gonna say. 2 inches is really short.

Although an RSCB on a nitefinder doesn't seem like it would too well anyways. Try an inline clip.

I can handle the recoil on a 45. I don't think a Nitefinder ought to be a problem. xD

If my darts were inconsistent, then they would fly all over the place. These are only veering upward.

I'm thinking it has to be the barrel. I had to sand it a bit for my felt-tipped tips to go through smoothly. Maybe I did the top lip too much?

And for the record, 2 inches works fine with the stock spring. I get 50-60 feet consistently with an RSCB clip installed.

I inlined mine, and with a #49 and a chopped down unknown spring (nearly impossible to prime, it got the same range. I had a 6" barrel on mine, and I noticed that it did something similar with a longer barrel, like 8". The first shot would actually shoot straight up into the air, and the second one would lob, and the third and last shot would fly straight, and all three were taken flat. I never quite understood it.

Well, if you want a sidearm with ammo, try a Mauser. It'll be a bit slower, but you'll get the same effect. You can't really have a sidearm with ROF unless you do a cylindered/turreted pistol or a recon or a raider/AT pistol. In that case, just wait until the snapfires are released, or get a speedswarm or other battery-powered blaster.
