New project. I am selling my dirtbike, so with the money I will recieve, I have permission by my mom to get a golf cart that can be modified anyway I want. So far I'm leaning toward an electric one. That way I can use capacitors for an extra "boost" of speed. Anyhow, I will be using half-inch plywood as armor and turn the cart into a tank. There will be no rotating turret, but I may use a carbide cannon or variation of a spud gun to shoot three-to-four inch projectiles, probably anti-personnel shot high-arch mortar-style. I have designs for everything, including the electric schematics (I already have someone willing to sell me there cart) and cannon/projectiles. The major question I have is: should I dip my head in the acid and do this? I might scan a few sketches and post them here.

now it burns. ok now my hands off. oh god now this is getting fricking crazy.

Well... I don't think very many people would let you use it in their wars... If you think you'll be happy with driving it around and shooting at stumps, go for it. Otherwise, save the money for something more practical... Like, say, the Nerf guns coming out this fall.

I am not sure as to its play balance in a war. I'm sure its doable, and would be pretty badass, but I would think that if it was considered for a war, it would be either disallowed outright, or there would be some kind of penalty involved to balance it out. Sounds awesome though. Here at Central the grounds department uses golf carts to get around campus, and I've taken to calling them the "Golf Carts of Death", because they seem to appear all the time out of nowhere, and a couple of times damn near hit me speeding through campus (funny how the grounds people always act like they have a purpose...funny how they don't). So anyway, I guess that they will have to be downgraded to "Golf Carts of Pain" and yours be given the title "Golf Cart of Death." I'd be a lot more scared of it, lol.

I never really planned to use it in a war. Since the campground I go to has golf cart activities, one of which is wars when it's before season ( with both nerf and non-nerf items), it is kinda neat. I would also probably use it at a friend's house who lives on 12 acres of woods. I never really thought about the new guns this fall. I'll have to put a few hundred dollars aside. But that's why I like this site; there is always advice. I'm surprised that no one flamed me for posting the idea. It could be balanced with another tank on the other team's side, but then the fun's gone. Although, it would introduce some new homemade arrow launchers as anti-tank weaponry. Well I live in suburban Michigan so there aren't very many wars with a ton of people. The largest I've been in had 14 people dispersed between two teams.

I've read through this thread and I've come to the conclusion that a homemade tank.... would kick..... so much ass. Just the idea sounds awesome. Not to mention it would be great to see tanks in nerf wars. In fact if this idea ever got really popular it could be something to set nerf aside from paintball a little more. Every time I mention that I nerf someone says that it's just a wussy version of paintball (jackasses). Anyway, if there were tanks in nerf that would make it even better and it might even get people more interested. It could open up all new ideas for homemades too, such as homemades that are to big to carry but not too big to fit in a golf cart or some other kind of tank.

That cart would be sweet since you have all that land to roam around. If you had another cart, that would make it even better. You could both be riding at each other and try to hit the moving carts. Man that would be cool. But I would think it over and see what your friends think. That is a lot of money and you don't want it to go to waste.

Yeah...you would need some anti-tank weapon. Maybe a B&A with the original arrows? One hit and it's considered destroyed.

Maybe you could set the golf cart tank at a low speed and have no working weapons at all. Then you could play games where the objectives would be to escort the tank to a designated point, while the enemy has to hijack it and escort it to their designated point. The tank would start somewhere between both points for the start - ready for takeover by either team.

Anyways, I would not use a homemade for a turret. Unless it is no more powerful than Nerf guns. I think the armor and mobility is more than enough of an advantage.

GeneralPrimeval, whereabouts in "suburban michigan" do you live? Theres two clans already going strong here in the metro detroit area, and we could always use 14 extra people for our wars! PM me or something, we'd love to nerf with you guys sometime!

Golf Cart? Those things are sweet! Lower that biyatch down 3 inches, put some 14" spinny rims on that, buy a 4" muffler and hot glue it to the back, cut the roof off for some hot convertible action, put clear corner lights, and 2 fat ass capacitors hooked up to 2 red buttons in the steering wheel for instant power boost. Hook up a bunch of RC motors together and a big ass battery and gear them down for insane torque for acceleration! And maybe a flux capacitor under the seat for time traveling action.

Hmm...I live in the Grand Rapids area, about three hours from Detroit. Also, that was about three or four years ago. They all sold their stuff now to pay for other stuff.

As for the anti-tank weapons, I was thinking more along the lines of one very powerful homemade that was about five feet long and shoulder fired. Maybe solenoid operated?

Accessories for the cart are endless. I mean, neon lights around the base, chrome pipes, chrome bumpers, anything. Unfortunately the plywood would cover it all up.

Hey maybe over summer you could make the trip

Anyways, about the golf cart idea, I'd mount a few rf20's on it, maybe one on each side, and attach them so they can swivel 180* That would just be awesome.

It would be even better if they were removeable, belt fed, and CO2 powered. THen after the tank is destroyed, the people in it could grab the guns and go. With the belts and CO2, they would not have to be pumped or reloaded often. This golf cart tank idea sounds better daily. I definetly will have to start once my school gets out (June 3).

I might be able to go there this summer. PM me the whereabouts and stuff because we don't want to hijack my thread. I might be able to bring a few (like two) friends. They don't have very many weapons (one has a T3, the other a PC, who might be buying a NF, and a weird Batman gun thing) but I am going to be lending the one with the T3 my RF20, and the PC one my homemade. That way they will have a bit more and won't suck too bad. I'll give profiles of both on a PM if you want.
