You just made my pants moveMaking myself officially coming.
Also, I will have a trunk full of blasters. I'm currently low on money and space in my shop, so I'm pricing my items to sell (cheap blasters and great combo deals!)
On the other hand, the guy who posted before me used the word 'fuck' a lot so he probably knows what he's talking about.

I've been doing tests with some darts, and I'm proposing a change in the rules for darts. Because it's last second, I think it's fair to vote on it because some of you may have already made darts for the war. It would suck to just have made 300 darts to find out the rules changed to make your darts inferior to others.
The vote is really on what we want to accomplish by our limitations: Low pain or low range.
If we're limiting only pain, then glue domes should remain banned but the weight limit will be lifted to allow slingshot weights and other heavy weights. While they will still sting a bit, the felt pad limits what can be done to skin.
If we're limiting only range, then glue domes should be allowed but the weight limitation will remain the same, to keep the mass of the darts low.
If we're limiting both (range and pain), then glue domes should remain banned as well as slingshot ammo and other heavy weights.
------------------------------
I personally think the weight limit should be lifted, while the tip style should still be limited to felt tips. Hipponater, TheBrian, and I did some pain tests last year and came to the conclusion the the primary factor in pain comes from the head type. While slingshot ammo under a felt pad still stings from 40' (our primary testing distance), it's unrealistic to expect NO pain at all firing from modified blasters.
During my testing over the last week, I've noticed that heavier ammo seems to level out higher powered blasters. With lighter ammo (2 copper BB's under felt pad), it seemed that there was a much bigger change in range from blaster to blaster depending on power - Big Blast and SM1500 at about 90-100' while high powered springers (PAS, +bow, SNAP) were hitting about 75-85'. While, with the heavier ammo, (slingshot weight under felt pad) all the blasters seemed to level out at about 100-110'. This leveling effect would be nice in order to level out the playing field and make everyone's max range more similar. That's just my vote though. So leave a reply in this thread or PM me with your vote. I think we have to make a final call by Wednesday to allow people to make darts in time for the war.

Personally, I'd say allow weights up to 1/4" slingshot. Given, I play in Canada all the time, so pain isn't a big deal. So I may be a bit biased

Also, as a general rule for darts: if you can see bare metal, you shouldn't fire it.

I would prefer no glue domes, but I don't mind some lighter weight ones (single BB). Perhaps we can figure this out for a future war, we can keep this one at felt pads only.
edit: I may bring some blasters for sale/trade as well, and I'll probably have some loaners if people want to switch it up and try my stuff. I'd appreciate it if we could keep the trading confined to before/after the war and during lunch so we can get maximum play time.

And for my two cents on the dart rule, it's a bit late to change now. But it doesn't affect me either way as I only have slugs and stock darts.

I don't mind allowing slingshot weights with a felt pad. As long as it has that pad, it's fine, but if we find that they're just too painful, the group may need to ask someone to stop and switch. The change is fine with me, it doesn't prohibit any darts so it shouldn't be much a problem for the last minute. No one will need to remake darts because of it.

^I agree with this.
Could hot glue tipped Streamlines be allowed though? This would drastically increase my dart count availability. I have plenty of stock darts and slugs for Dave and I, but I'm currently working on a solution for my other guests. I was going to ask about silicon weighted darts, but it's too late to start making those now and I won't have access to my drill press before the war anyway.

While I agree with this in a sense, I don't agree with causing pain just to cause pain. My only issue with lighter weights is their shitty range. Streamline darts are heavier than my 3/0 darts and actually get better ranges -.-...if you can't take a hit then you shouldn't be playing.
I completely agree. While no one can actually force others to participate in rounds, we will all be killing you in our imaginations if you choose to trade or delay the game play.I'd appreciate it if we could keep the trading confined to before/after the war and during lunch so we can get maximum play time.
I know I will be attending rain or shine. The only thing that will make me go inside is lightning or unsafe weather conditions. If it's raining is there a back-up plan or is the war post-poned as there are quite a few of us who are diving from a few hours away and I'd hate to see people waste gas with the prices today for nothing.
The play gym area has a nice rubbery finish on the ground, so it won't be a big deal if it's raining during those rounds. However, mud may be an issue in the wooded area. If it does end up raining, we can always just stay in the play gym area. Be sure to wrap athletic tape on all your shit to be able to use it in the wet conditions!
1) Yes, you can use glue tipped Streamlines assuming you aren't adding a weight to them. Also, we'd prefer you not use a Big Blast or something insanely powerful while using those darts.1)Could hot glue tipped Streamlines be allowed though?
2)I was going to ask about silicon weighted darts, but it's too late to start making those now and I won't have access to my drill press before the war anyway.
2) We'd have to see them in person to make a call. It depends on how they dry and exactly how they feel.

Cool, I was only planning on loaning them for use in a SM3k or RSCB'd SNAPs.
Any plans for lunch? I know that our group will probably hit somewhere near/around campus. Cane's + Nerf = Win.

In the past we've taken about an hour and gone to a near by fast food restaurant. I know I personally decide right before I leave, I can't decide what to eat days before I eat it

Oh I got one more question. Are you going to be filming any of the war? I was wondering cause I'm planning on bringing my camera to capture some footage and wondered if you'd like any of my footage to post on your Youtube channel or so. If I use a blaster with a tactical rail, I'll have it on my blaster. For the blasters I have that don't, I'll have my dad either follow or get full field shots.
I have 2 pairs of video glasses, although one's much higher quality than the other. I'll try to remember to bring them.

We have nerfed at this park before while it was raining and it was fine it got there were a few puddles but they were easy to play around. The play gym's rubber ground was fine too, but you just have to be careful when on the the play gym itself it gets slippery.

I don't have flagging tape, although I do have duct tape in multiple colors. That would work in a pinch.
Lastly, if anyone's looking for something in particular, say so. My trunk will be full, trying to unload stuff. Still trying to decide whether to bring my crossbow or not
EDIT: wow, my primaries need fixing. I wonder if I can assemble that multipurpose bazooka in time...

Haha, I'd still come. It just means that if all else fails, I'll slap a coupler on a Big Blast!
