these are the internals for my sm5k right now. i have the original pump connected to a 1500 tank but i was wondering what the best way to connect the firing pin to the trigger is?

You could probably take a long metal rod at epoxy putty it together.

I think it would be best to move your tank to the back near the trigger.
That way you don't have so much deadspace in the tubing and there is less of a chance if bending your firing pin.
I would connect the firing pin to the tank using a metal rod of some sort.

This mod should work just like if you had stock internals. You may need to slip some PVC pipe or something over the tank to make it hug the shell and then glue it. Epoxying a rod to the pin sounds like a great way to bend the firing pin. Relocating the tank also allows for those dandy breeches people put on 5Ks.

I agree with moving the tank back if you want to make it easier to connect the pin to the trigger.

What happened to the original tank? Or is this a different SM5K shell?

Technically, it's not 'deadspace'. The extra length of tubing acts more like a tank expansion. It's not the most efficient tank expansion but there is more air being expelled upon release.

My advise: grow some balls and fix the 5k tank, or put a 4B tank in there instead. There's no point for an oversized singled 2k.

True, but sometimes less pumps is better.

You could also put a water gun tank inside. I believe ahtanie and Drac have done similar things.

I dropped a 3k tank in my 5k, and then made an elongated coupler (about 6") of 21/32 brass that extended to the front of the blaster. This allows me to use regular cpvc as a barrel, and i just need to pull it out drop a dart down, and then push the barrel back in. The best part was that there was no cutting of the shell, and the tank relocation allowed me to use the stock 3k firing pin.

For some reason I can't find a picture of the barrel out, but when I get a chance I'll get a better detailed picture.

Detail on the 3k tank location. The cut was made by a prior owner.



Or you could keep the tank at the front and make a nifty slide breech that locks into the front of the blaster. For this I would bend some music wire into a long pin that links both the trigger and the tank. A blowtorch used to heat up the wire works very well. Just make sure the wire is cool before putting it near anything.

Well seeing that the 5k tank is broken me putting it in there wouldn't do much good now would it?

alright thanks alot I did want to keep the tank infront because I like using my rscb
