This is just a rearrangement of the recon tactical light's internals so it's smaller.

This mod may not be for you if you:
  • hate tactical rail accessories
  • think the tactical light is useless
  • don't have a stampede
  • aren't a fan of sanding and dremeling
So here is the problem:

NOPE. It goes on but it won't click in.

You want this:

YES.

Here's the shortened how-to:

Cut it.

This is where things go.
The shell needs hollowing to the fit the tray.
The tray has a nut that receives the batter cover screw, this needs to be flipped to the open battery side.

The rail clip is your new battery cover.

File the sides so it can pop out, except this one here.

Mount the LED upside down, and cut the corners next to the wires.

Cover the back with some scrap plastic.

Relocate the included switch here, it's actually easier to use than stock.

Success!

I tried to be as brief as possible, so if anything is unclear let me know. I have quite a few more process pictures if clarification is necessary.

This is a very clean and simple mod. But wouldn't it have been easier to just attach it to one of the side or top rails instead?

I like how you took the time to repeat the fake grip thing across the section that you cut out, what kind of saw did you use? (specifically do you know how many teeth per inch?) Because that is a really clean cut as well.

Progress: Just a long line of people saying "See? I told you it could be done"

Thanks for showing us how to do this neat mod. Scaling it down could add some new uses for the light. It looks like it was made that way.

Quite an elegant and clean solve! I prefer the underslung attachment, and this keeps it "Nerf" without going overtly tacticool (using actual LED torches). Thanks for the mod!

By mounting the light underneath the barrel, not only is the "laser" in line with the gun, it also acounts for some drop. Although this is a very clean mod, I don't see it being of much use in a battle. Especially with stock darts.

Thanks guys!

Actually what I did was screw the halves of the shell together, 'rough' cut it with a dremel cut off wheel, and then sanded it and checked until it fit.

Exactly. Accuracy would be an overstatement, but it's neato.
